Personally I would put the Hakim drop over the Katrina game...just barely.

For me it's:

1. Porter's Int
2. Hartley kick in OT
3. Hakim drops the ball
4. Gleason block

For sheer excitement, those of us who back to the beginning with the Saints would add John Gilliam's 94 yd return for a touchdown of the first kickoff in Saints history in 1967, Tom Dempsey's NFL record 63 yd FG kick as time expired against the Lions in 1970 (in J.D. Robert's first game as head coach), and Archie Manning's first NFL start against the Los Angeles Rams in 1971. As time ran out Archie boot-legged it in from the 1 yard line to give the Saints the upset win, 24-20.

No list is legit without those three events.

It's a great list. However, the Saints have been around for 43 years. Every play on that list took place in the last decade. Three of the four occured since Katrina.

I'd say it's a great list for the most exciting Saints plays of the last decade.

as far as excitement, for me. Hartley's kick, then TP's SB interception. The interception is only #2 because we had the lead by a TD and with Hartely's kick what was riding on that one single play. But they are damn close.

Games:

1. SB 44
2. NFC Championship game
3. Monday might homecoming game

True, but it's not just because it's recent.

We've obviously enjoyed our most success in our history in the last 4 years or so.

I'm sure the Dempsey kick and our 1st KR TD were badass and very meaningful and belong on a top 5-10 list without question.

But the 4 posted originally were pretty legit.

1 wrapped up our 1st ever playoff berth.

1 wrapped up our 1st SB berth.

1 wrapped up our 1st SB victory.

And the other kinda goes without saying as to why it was important, though it wasn't about a win or loss per se.

It is a pretty legit top 4 and hard to leave any of those plays off the list.

Damn exciting--indeed. In the top 3, no way. In all of those, fans had yet to endure the saints. AT least in my opinion and for me

To me, the FG was the bigger play, but the INT was more "exciting". The FG was a different emotion -- perhaps some sort of cosmic satisfaction.

I have no clue what "cosmic satisfaction" means, but i still agree with it.

I'll even throw this one in the mix. Now follow me, b/c it is not the least bit "exciting" now. For excitement of a single play, given the situation and game, I'd add the Saints TD vs. the Vikes to take a 7-0 lead in their first ever playoff game. I have heard the Dome louder than that only five or six times. Now that play was not exciting at all a mere 60 minutes later as they Saints were blown out something like 48-7. But you get my drift.

I lived through 10 months of the '70s, so I'm thinking no.
