It was 10-7 when he said this, and then he added "THEY ONLY HAVE 64 OF OFFENSE!"
They then had a 68 yard touchdown shortly afterwards and scored touchdowns on like 3 of 4 drives.

I thought it was when Brees foot was planted and two fatasses landed on him right after he moved his foot.

I worked as a stats guy for an NFL broadcast in 2001 and at the production meeting before the game they went through a series of storylines they expected to emerge from the game. The idea being that we would each be assigned a storyline or two to track so that if the director came to us during the game wanting to know how those storylines were playing out, we would have stats to show him whether they were worth discussing on air.
Problem is, no battle plan survives contact with the enemy, and the vast majority of the storylines we planned to track did not pan out and we had to scrap them.
I feel like Dan decides the storylines in advance (i.e. Buffalo front 7 makes Brees uncomfortable in the pocket all day) and then just talks about them whether they happen or not.

I can also state from experience that the game is all about fitting the action in the predetermined narrative.
This week is all about the rivalry between the two defensive genius brothers, even if the Saints win 47-38.
And don't listen to Fox if Chris Ivory has a big day because they will want to make you break the set.
And if the Saints win big, get ready for the "they play the Super Bowl here, you know" storyline.
If the game is close in the 4th quarter, prepare for Geno Smith and the Cardiac Jets.
There will be others to try to cover as many angles as possible, but it definitely frustrating when they try to force the narrative on the game instead of letting the stories write themselves.

I love it when they just keep talking about sh!t when your watching a big play or touchdown go down and they just keep blabbing.
They all think we tune in to see and listen to THEM. Its sad.

I was watching a MNF Saints / 49ers game sometime in the 90's, we were getting killed.... Dierdorf said we didnt belong on the same field with the 49ers.
Hate him to this day

There's a lot to be said for Pat Sumerall. He was a great announcer.

Dan Dierdorf
He was available when the Saints picked in the 2nd round. The Saints' first round pick, one Archie Manning, was hoping they'd pick him. But instead they chose the immortal Sam Holden (a NO native and St Aug grad!) out of Grambling. Archie's reaction: "Well I guess he must be pretty good if they took him ahead of Dierdorf".
Sam played 9 great games for the Black and Gold, while Dierdorf had to settle for the Cardinals and Canton Ohio.
