The Saints should ask the Steelers permission to interview Tomlin

The Saints should interview Mike Tomlin. A change in scenery for Tomlin and the Steelers could benefit both parties.
It wouldn’t hurt to ask, Loomis. A change in location helped Andy Reid.

If you were Mike Tomlin, would you leave the Pittsburgh Steelers to join an organization like the New Orleans Saints?
My answer would be no way in hell, no cap space and shitty owner and a shitty general manager,

If the Steelers are looking to make a change, this is a way for both parties to part amicably.
The NFC South could be a cake division for Tomlin over time.

What would it cost us in draft picks?

Probably nothing, if Steelers ownership wants to go in a different direction. Loomis should make the inquiry.

If it's one of our 3rds, I'm all in

Sounds good to me.

Only reason he can't win anything of note in Pittsburgh is because they haven't had a qb so why would he want to come here?

Not really his decision

It would be. With as loyal as they are in Pittsburgh you think they'd trade him somewhere he doesn't want to go? It'd be the same situation as we had with Payton. Find where you want to go, pretend there's somewhere else for leverage, and we'll take what the actual destination gives us.

Even if the Steelers DO let Tomlin go he wouldn't be interested in coming here. He'd have no shortage of interest from other teams, he'd be able to sit back, maybe take a year off and cherry pick whichever situation fits him best. This is yet another reason why our cap situation is so detrimental. No one with options is going to be interested in walking into a situation where they're going to be so perpetually caught behind the 8 ball for at least another few years. Other than us nailing multiple drafts in a row there's no way for us to get better without first getting worse and we haven't nailed a draft in years.
For the record, I doubt very seriously the Steelers are looking to move off of Tomlin at this time. The Rooney family just doesn't do things that way, they've only had 3 head coaches in the last 55 years. I know Tomlin hasn't produced anything in the way of postseason success in a long time, but he's mostly over-performed in the regular season based on their talent level these last few years. I don't see how you can get rid of him unless you KNOW you're bringing in someone better.

The coach doesn’t have to be cool with where he’s being traded to? I’m pretty sure that’s inaccurate? He could just demand they fire him at that point and then boom he can go wherever.
No shot he goes from the Steelers organization to us

This is the post on awhile on here. Hell yea ! Make the damn call Mickey

Hell no. He hasn’t won a playoff game in what seems like 50 years and he’s also hired people like Matt Canada.

Probably so, but he might see us as a better spot anyway. You think he likes facing 2 of the best qbs in the nfl 2 times a year?
Posted on 1/12/25 at 7:50 am to msstate7
I think he would just demand to be released and go to a way better spot than us. He’d have his pick of analyst work in the interim if he wanted it. He’s a pretty popular dude and quite loquacious.

Exactly, HOF coaches (see Sean Payton) do everything in their power to leave this city and organization not come here. No chance with Tomlin.

Tomlin would decline. Why would he want to come to New Orleans to deal with all the problems?
Posted on 1/12/25 at 9:36 am to BigTigerJoe
Tomlin took over a well ran team and just had to keep it going in the right direction. I don't know if he's a build from the ground up type of coach
