That backup QB then went elsewhere the following season, became their starting QB, and led that team to the Super Bowl. That backup's name was Jake Delhomme.
That was 2002. The Saints needed to win just one of their last 3 games and lost them all. Delhomme would go to the Panthers the next year and they'd lose the SB to the Patriots.
Aaahhh yes, the 2002 New Orleans Saints.
At one point in the season, they were 7-2. Completely shat the bed at the end of the year. Losing to some really, really awful Vikings, Panthers, Browns, and Bengals squads.
That year they beat the Super Bowl Champs Buccaneers twice and the Packers and 49ers who made the playoffs. Amazing choke job by Haslett and the Saints.

He's a wonderful leader and I'm jealous the Panthers have him rather than the Saints.

Panthers have screwed themselves here. They have made him their face of the franchise and now cant shut him down bc of that. It will depend on our game. We beat him up a little and win, then they will consider it. This new owner will revamp big time if they lose out and Cam may not be safe even being here.
