Smeenge was certainly not a bust of Sullivan-Knight proportions. He had a decent career
i realize this was about busts, and i really wasn't saying he was, just surprised he had an 11 yr career.

i remember him as being pretty bad.
Not so much compared to the rest of them.
We loved calling out SMEENGE during the games.

I remember that draft. When Eddie George dropped down to the Saints, everyone on the ESPN board said that the Saints needed a running back and that Eddie George was a "no brainer". I think everyone in the room was certain that the Saints were going to pick George.
Then, out of nowhere, they announced Alex Molden. My response was "F*CKING WHO???" I think it was Mel Kiper that was incredulous about it. As I recall, he said that he graded Molden to be a mid-second rounder.
I was PISSED. NO OTHER TEAM had Molden rated as a first rounder. Word got around that they picked Molden because he agreed to a lower-paying contract than everyone else the Saints were looking at.
I think most Saints fans at the time viewed it as we lost Eddie George to get a WEAK-arse scrub like Alex Molden.

Everytime I saw this dude all I could think was that he needed to get another jersey number and quit fricking up wearing #57.
