Winston was never going to be the successor for Brees. His "success" at Tampa was always followed by a "yeah, but those INT's though..." comment.
In his best year at Tampa, he was a known commodity that wasn't going to be good enough to step in for Brees. That was obvious.
By the time the Saints went all-in to try and get Mahomes - and whiffed - they were already doomed by the lack of urgency in previous years.
And you can blame Loomis all you want, but I guarantee that if Payton - the only coach to ever win a SB in New Orleans - told Loomis "we need to look for a replacement NOW", then Loomis would have taken him at his word.
I don't deny that he brought us to a level of success that we'd never had prior to his arrival. But, unlike other truly great coaches, he decided to coast on that success instead of securing ways to keep it going beyond his cash-cow Brees.
So, yeah, I can blame Payton and hate him for that. Again, if CSP had urged finding a successor sooner than Mahomes (and no, I don't accept that Winston counts for that), the Saints wouldn't have wandered in purgatory for so long after Drew retired. There would have been growing pains, but at least we would have been growing.

Based on this post what exactly can a head coach of a football team do to satisfy your needs as a fan? Because what your asking is utterly ridiculous from a nfl teams head coach for you not to hate him.

You must not be paying attention. The example I cited was Andy Reid going out and getting Mahomes. He had Alex Smith and Kelce already, and his teams were already pretty good at that time. That said, he made no apologies about going all-in for Mahomes. It was necessary, and he made sure the front office knew it.
Given Reid's past success, the head office listened to him, and, well, we see how that played out.
In a similar situation, if CSP had had even rudimentary foresight and not waited until Drew's twilight years to entertain the idea of an actual successor, you better believe that Loomis would have listened to him.
You can go back on this very board to the last 3-5 years of Payton's tenure in New Orleans, and it was evident that the fans saw the need to start thinking about the eventuality of Drew retiring. If us plain-old rubes could see the need, CSP did as well. But instead, he did nothing but continue to ride the Brees gravy train until he had no other choice.
And the ticket on that train for the last few years of Brees career was very expensive.

Lol damn. So he gets you a superbowl, franchise qb, competitive years of playoff runs- just curious what are you exactly petty about? That he didnt coach the Saints till he died?
Be a man and say you don’t want to coach in New Orleans anymore. Don’t “retire” just to come back to coach for another team. I’d have a lot more respect for him that way.

Gotchya so you want a coach to go and get a Mahomes- generational type player after winning a superbowl and finding a generational type player in Brees. Yeah thats not too much to ask lol

Yes
He could have
Mahommes was sitting right in front of him
Reid is a far superior HC
Hence the results

Just curious…..
Are you from the New Orleans area
And are you a Saints fan
And for how long

The referee in that game was none other than Bill Vinovich who has yet to officiate a game in New Orleans since the no call PI that cost the Saints the NFC championship

Yes. To all your questions and 30 plus years. I have a question do you have something seriously wrong with your keyboard or do you enjoy just randomly hitting the enter button for extra spaces?? Seriously your posts take up the whole page lol

Ok so as a fan, you’re concerned with how Sean exited the franchise because you feel like he lied to you. He resigned from his employer. If the Saints organization has no issue in regards to the way he left, why do you? Before Saints coaches leave should they personally call you and let you know how they really feel before leaving so they have your respect? You know how ridiculous you sound?

When was your first post on the
Saints board
Posted on 9/11/23 at 3:18 pm to Rohan Gravy
The Chiefs traded in front of him so no he couldn’t have. And the guy we drafted instead helped make the defense a whole lot better for the later Brees years, hes no Mahomes but Lattimore isnt a scrub.
Funny, you think Reid is superior because Eagles fans will tell you he bailed on them and didn’t win a superbowl. But yeah lets ignore his whole tenure with the Eagles to strengthen your own argument smh.

You can look that up and then make some judgement since I have been posting like you since 2017 my posts cannot be credible- I’m sure thats where you’re going.

That’s not where I’m going
Where I’m going is that you are full of shite

Bravo on adding less spaces. You’re getting there in regards to typing like a normal person lol
The typical I dont have a response so lets say hes full of shite response. Keep it coming and make sure you watch your spacing ;)

So you blame Sean Payton on not moving up and trading assets to draft a qb? Gotchya.
Do you blame him for not trading up and drafting Burrow or Herbert, do you blame him for not getting any qb that became a superstar? Your arguments are a complete joke.

Shut up.
Payton has always been an arrogant piece of shite who acted like his shite didn't stink and he was better than his employer the NFL. That's why the Saints were always targeted as examples by them even with refs.
That arrogant bastard never wanted to get a QB here because he had no intention of staying. As soon as it got a little difficult he bailed because he's that type of person. it's not about him bailing, it's how he did it and basically left the Saints to the wolves to deal with the sinking ship he created.

Oh gasp! You’re a genius. I love how someone who doesn’t think like you cant be a saints fan. Im just curious where did you get your education? Did they have a typing class at your school? Did the instructor tell you to provide numerous spacing between anything you write?
