That's why I was saying I wasn't sure about then deal. He had a great season but being 31 is what has me concerned. Hopefully he can keep playing at the pace he did this past season.

I was right there with you, even without the PFF stats to back it up. Anyone who actually watched the games could clearly see Strief was our only lineman playing well to start the season.

Between Evans being hurt, DLP and Grubbs playing subpar, and Brown just fricking sucking I don't know how anyone objectively could blame Strief for the issues.

The only thing I could think is people were still down on him from playing injured in 2012 and just spouted the same shite from last season.

You have to take PFF numbers with a grain of salt, but being the top rated RT by them is proof enough that he is worth this contract any way that you slice it.

The way I see it is, in an injury (evans) and underperforming (brown, grubbs, and DLP) year, Strief came out as the most consistent and dependable one.

That speaks a lot more than just PFF numbers.

Agree.
A lot has been said of DLP and Browns play affecting the others play as well. But is any one else concerned over Grubbs? Numerous times I saw this huge guy getting pushed back and down in the backfield. Several games he seemed to be the weakest on the line. While he seems to be disciplined enough to avoid the penalties it seemed to me the worst performance by a guard in a long while with the Saints.
I don't have any PFF numbers just my handsome sh!t brown eyes.

I saw the same thing with Grubbs. And DLP had to help Evans more early on because of the injury making it worse.

Grubbs and DLP together are decent to good, especially if they have a good LT next to Grubbs. One on one the are sub par.

Brown was always the weakest link though.

Him playing most of the season on his back is what concerned me. I would have rathered pick somebody up from the draft or bring in somebody else.
