That is such BS though lol. Yea, he has made a lot of guys look better than they are. I don't think any WR is "great" on our team. Colston is probably the best, is pure possession and has some inconsistencies. Moore pure possession guy. Meachem can't figure out how to run anything but a deep route. Henderson has been inconsistent entire career. Now imagine what Brees offense would be with a Calvin "Megatron" Johnson or Andre Johnson. Do you think anyone would be able to stop us? Payton would probably have a orgasm just thinking plays up with either of those guys in our offense.

We don't need a superstar WR but it certainly wouldn't hurt either. Especially those games where running disappears and the game turns into Madden on easy mode. Chucking the ball 50+ times.

i have to agree with duece. smith just has a way of making a average qb look good(jake d) would love to see how he does with a great qb like brees

meh he's getting old. While I do agree that we do sometimes overrate the Saints plug and play ability(there were several games last year where it just seemed like nobody could get open/although injuries might have had something to do with it) I don't want to overpay for a 32 year old short WR. We have a good short WR as it is who is much younger and if we're going to spend a little more I'd rather grab an upgrade at LT to protect Drew's blindside.

wow you think do you really think of bush as a running back? Because he is rarely used as a running back in payton's system. He is moved around to whatever position on the field that payton needs him to create a mismatch whether it's at runnning back, wide out or whatever. That is what bushes value has been and one of the reasons the saints offenses have been special. And the reason i posed the question to the board if we lost bush should we make a run at smith because one thing he has always been good at is creating mismatches.

Blues i could see that if lance goes but my question is if bush goes because bush has such affect on our offense with the ability to be put on the field and create a mismatch something i don't think lance or your smith has. i just think that if we loses bush then we need to get a player that can bring that kind of versitility to the team. i think my smith is that type of player but i agree the cap hit would be way to high

very true...but creating mismatches tends to be the results of young legs/physical ability, you don't want to overpay for an aging playmaker coming off multiple injuries

Steve smith is the best jam stuffer in the game at WR. His mid-range size is so hard for DBs to deal with. He's very strong and physical at the point of attack off the LOS.

If the Saints had one great WR on the team does anyone realize how much it would open up? All the double and triple teams? It would be a nightmare scenario for a defense because they'd have to pick and choose. Either single a great WR up or double him and leave others open. Can't even imagine what Payton would do with this offense.

That being said, I'm not sure Smith is the answer. He was great years ago but production has really fallen off. Plus he is old.

i think he still has a couple of good years left and is his lack of production his fault or lack of decent qb play

no shite, but he creates a lot of mismatches out of the backfield, something that steve smith cannot do

he would be a lance moore replacement, not a reggie bush replacement.

btw, reggie has 524 carries compared to 294 catches. I would imagine a very large percentage of those catches were out of the backfield

Who doesn't

If Lance leaves Steve Smith does not want his role on the Saints team.

Don't see us going after any W.R.s in F.A..

FWIW I can't imagine that a deal does not get done.
95% by my computations Lance stays.
