don't be so quick to say a team wouldn't give up a 2 for mccoy under contract

Did you ignore the second half? Congrats so now there's no good centers left and we just traded ours? Absolute genius play.

theory is resigning fortner bro. keep up.

your idea that we'll be down grading but reality is that we've gotten fairly average production out of mccoy for 2 yrs.

Right. And then what do we do at OG? Start Ruiz? Sign someone that won't be as good as McCoy? And take on 8-10mil dead money for the hell of it?

This is not true. He is very very good when he's available. Availability is the issue and not his on field production.

I wouldn’t mind another beastly OL pick in this draft.

2.) contracts are fluid and can be restructured in a trade scenario.
Yes and no. The signing bonus is already paid and hard coded on our cap, so we absolutely would lose cap (although as you said not much) trading him pre June 1st.

The flexible part is if there's a guaranteed roster bonus the original team usually owes it, but most often the new team agrees to take it on as part of the trade. Other times the original team will agree to keep a portion of guaranteed base salary for higher draft compensation by turning that portion into a signing bonus. So there can be give and take in scenarios like that.

I'd have to check with McCoy and Ruiz if they have a guaranteed roster bonus or not, but both will cost cap to trade regardless iirc.
