So Payton has now been connected to four teams?

A few years ago, Rapoport said Payton was flirting with the Colts. He was roasted when Payton signed an extension but now it turns out this was true.
Payton definitely wanted the Los Angeles Rams before they hired McVey, and he also had his agent put out feelers for the Miami Dolphins.
You know there's so much smoke that he was interested in Dallas.
I mean this coach has been trying to leave the Saints since 2017. It doesn't make any sense either. He had super talented rosters, a Brees still playing at a high level. Why would he even want to go to the Colts?

Coaches become interested in a lot of teams when their contracts are due up and the agents are driving up cost

Triplett reported last night Payton did not try to force his way to Miami.

Knew the clocking was ticking on Brees inevitable retirement and wanted to get ahead of it. And wasn't the defense kind of middle of the pack in that 2016-2019 time frame?

Luck hadn't retired yet when he was considering it. Luck retired in TC before the 2019 season
