That may or may not be true, but even if it is, it doesn't mean Brees is better.

If

Drew means more to his team than Rodgers

Then

he is more valuable than Rodgers

So

He should be MVP

It's baffling that some Saints fans still believe that Rodgers deserves the MVP over Brees. Especially after what Drew has done these last 2 weeks.

The season is 16 games, not 2. Your problem is you see it as a zero sum, I see it as both are worthy, saying Rodgers doesn't deserve it is asinine, homerism.

All I keep hearing is that Rodgers deserves it. Well so does Drew!

yep, but only 1 can win it.

This is the 2nd fricking time he has passed for 5000+ yards for Christ sakes. Add to that 46 TDs and a13-3 record.... It should be Brees' case closed, but Rodgers only has 6 ints and one loss whoopdy freeeking do.

What happened in 2008 is not relevant to the 2011 MVP.

Rodgers has done a helluva lot more than just throw 6 INTs. Alex Smith has only 5 and no one is touting him as MVP. Rodgers account for more TD's in far fewer attempts and as it turned out 1 fewer game.

And why did he play 1 fewer game? Because his team didn't doink a game to the 2nd worst team in the league and had the top playoff position wrapped up.

Glad you didn't actually believe your moronic hypothetical equation.

1 fewer TD

My point exactly. He had less touchdowns passing.

though both clearly had incredible all time great seasons

Has anyone said "Because I'm a Saints Fan, I think Aaron Rodgers is a piece of shite and wouldn't let him be on my Son's Jr. High football team"? No. No one is arguing that Rodgers had a great, great season. BUT....Brees had one for the record books.

Aaron Rodgers is good. Drew Brees is better and more valuable to his team and because of the numerous shattered long standing records more deserving of the MVP,

its not that Aaron Rodgers cant make an argument for MVP,its just that its a losing one

In that case the MVP should clearly be Peyton Manning.

You are delusional if you think GB would be where they are if Flynn played all year in place of Rodgers simply because he was outstanding in this one game, which was meaningless for GB as a team, though important to Flynn.

Which was why the rest of the team phoned it in after half time?

Apparently, it was Rodgers "coaching" that made Flynn perform so well Sunday.

How is it case closed when the other guy has 1 more TD and a 15-1 record?

Not relevant. We are comparing Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers.

I never said this. I said Green Bay would be better off without Rodgers than the Saints would be without Drew Brees

True, playing in 1 less game. Although, he managed more TDs than Brees in 1 less game. And let's not forgot that Brees has accounted for 15 turnovers this season, compared to Rodgers 6.

This is objective. I could very easily argue that NO record or stats mean anything except for a season's win-loss total and everything else is just decoration.

That's not really the point. Having a TE set a TE record does not in and of itself mean the QB is wholly responsible. It just means the QB likes throwing to the TE and the TE is great. If the Saints had another good TE like NE has 2, he prolly wouldn't have the record. As for Sproles record, more than half of that was from kick/punt returns, that has nothing to do with the quality of his QB (previous #2 for that record was the Mi "Beerman" Lewis).

quote:

Have I ever said that

you said this, very good =/= great

quote:

Rodgers seems like a good dude and is a very good qb, but Brees is just that much better

This. This. This. I don't know where this "Either Brees is good or Rodgers is good, you can't have both" train of thought developed from.

The award is "Most Valuable Player". First of all, the "Player" criteria would disqualify Peyton Manning, who in fact did not play. Then, "Most Valuable" would assume some level of necessity and productivity from the person the award was going to. Drew Brees is more necessary to his team's success than Aaron Rodgers and has been more productive.

These "fans" are usually the bandwagon type.

In no way can any TRUE saints fan say that Brees should not be the MVP this season. It's not even an argument in my group of people. Drew is having one of the greatest seasons of all time and has broken multiple longstanding records along with teammates

Rodgers backup comes in today, AND SETS the FRANCHISE RECORD for yards and touchdowns.
