In the NFL safeties aren't as important a position as QB, OT, DE, or CB.

There's more to putting a team together than just drafting the best player at a position.

Vacarro could be the best safety in this draft, but is he better than the fourth best CB, or the 4th; best pass rusher, etc?

I'm not smart enough to tell you that he is, but let's hope the Saints and their GM, etc. are. If not we're in trouble and it doesn't matter.

There is no doubt that we need help at safety. But there's no doubt we needed pass rushers too, but if they weren't available it's better to take someone who is better at another position than to try and make a second round or third round talent out to be a first rounder like Buffalo did with their QB.

As well as there are other OLB of similar ability that will cost a lot less.

So now Jarvis Jones was overrated? Wow.

well saying that we signed a pass rusher and CB already this offseason, I think the team obviously thinks so. We also have 2 other players who were extremely effective at getting to the QB in their limited snaps (both should translate to the 3-4).

He's versatile, which means he can fit a variety of the Saints needs and adds depth at corner if need be

I believe he's not a top 15 player in this draft, yes.

No and that's what pisses me off, Nothing against the dude but we had better options, Jones will be an impact as soon as he steps on the field. Who knows maybe they saw something they thought made him worth the pick, guess we will find out soon enough.

Well, I think there are definitely questions with him too. There's a reason he fell to 17.

Either pick would've been fine imo, but Jarvis struggles when teams run right at him and he doesn't have great natural athleticism, plus he doesn't like to work out. Probably turned a lot of teams off of him tbh.

He'll probably be a good player though, I'm not saying that.

The experts must have some different "tape"..

Lacy took games over, the media darling best defense in the country got made look like a high school team.

Jones, same thing. Made tons of impact plays and everyone said Jones without the neck injury would be top 5.

Hayden to me is a great prospect Raider's Reggie Mckenzie obviously felt the same way.

Fluker i can see you argument here. But we don't value RT as much, but as a RT he was elite in the best conference in college football.

I won't even get enjoyment out of you guys being wrong because the Saints don't have him. You'll see immediate impact from Jarvis Jones this year. This bullshite you guys are spewing is because we passed him and you're trying to justify.

You think Vaccaro will have more of an impact than Jones?

ETA: This doesn't mean I don't like Vaccaro. I like him, just not over Jones.

We'll see in a couple years. Jones is a guy who can't get off blocks, misses tackles against the run, and there's questions whether his speed will hinder him in the NFL.

Jones is a situational player that will struggle to stay on the field during run downs. Vaccaro will never leave the field.

He's a situational player that's best attribute: getting to the QB, is negated somewhat in the NFL because of his lack of speed. He's also dogshit against the run.

We'll see.

Was just justifying him as a top 15 prospect. I agreed that is prolly what kept us away along with other teams.
