I mean we traded a fourth round pick for him….how many fourth round picks get a second contract from the team that drafted him?
Maybe we can sign him to a team friendly one year deal to extend him if it comes to that. Or we can trade him in his last year, or if he’s good and gets another contract somewhere else that we don’t want to pay we get a compensatory pick. Or maybe he helps us make the playoffs in his last year.
There’s just no way he’s good and it’s a bad result for us. Regardless of whether he gets a full second contract with us. You would take 2.5 years of starter production from a fourth round pick every time and fricking run.

The 4th rounder will be starting his rookie deal when Vele is in year 3 though. We still have that 4th rounder on a rookie deal into the potential window.
And by 2028 they'll be around 25
