That's nuts. Oh yeah, J. Mecom Jr. was the owner then.

They were both great players (HOF?), but not with the Saints. I think JT only played one year.

Still not as bad as the Colts. They hang a banner for literally anything.

And both numbers have never stopped being used.

They don't stop using numbers when they're retired. They stop using them when the jersey is retired.

The craziest thing about Jim Taylor is that LSU basically ignores his existence even though he is only 1 of 4 LSU players to make the NFL Hall of Fame.

JT should have his name on LSU ring of honor in Tiger Stadium

neither should be retired. Neither accomplished anything as a Saint.

Might not be retired but they will never issue it to anyone.

Didn't he get a bad rap due to legal trouble? Not sure whether that affects things

The Steelers only have two retired numbers. #70 for Ernie Stautner, who played before the merger. #75 for Mean Joe, who was a front office executive for over 30 years after his Hall of Fame playing career.

There are only so many jersey numbers. You can't retire them except in extraordinary circumstances.

Joe Green has only been a front office guy since 2004, and he's no executive. He was a DL Coach in Pittsburgh, Miami and Arizona for up until then.
