People aren’t going to give an honest opinion because they hate Rattler.

We were all excited at the prospect of Rattler but then we watched him play football.

Shough makes professional QB throws. Rattler made way too many safe throws.

Shough anticipates. Rattler has to see the receiver open.

Shough consistently makes big throws to convert 3rd downs. Rattler’s conversion rate on 3rd and medium/long was really bad.

Shough has won games. The only game Rattler won is when the opposing team had 5 turnovers.

Less objectively, Rattler seems like a try hard robot. He’s been coached to be a QB since he was really young. He’s so technically focused that his play doesn’t feel natural. Shough seems to be naturally gifted to play QB. He makes it seem effortless whereas Rattler seems to be trying really hard.

I think Rattler is a good guy and belongs in the league but his ceiling is clearly lower.

Its three main reasons apart from the intangible stuff like the wins and comebacks.

1) Shough’s physical tools are clearly much more easily translatable to success at the NFL level. Especially compared to Rattler, his height and size are a major difference maker as far as ability to see the field under pressure and escape a collapsing pocket/break tackles. Rattler also had issues with fumbles that I would assume is related to his hand size.

2) Garbage time stats for Rattler. Outside of a couple games a lot of Rattler’s production came in relative garbage time. We would get down 14 points or so and just kind of hover between 14-17 points down. A lot of games where we’d get down 17-0 and then end up losing 30-16 and looking back a month later Rattler has ok stats.

3) Style of play. This is the main one. As others have said Rattler really struggled to throw guys open, especially over the middle of the field. A lot of his throws were on comeback routes where he didn’t have to worry about complex anticipation and reading a defense. Or he would break pocket contain and hit someone who had broken wide open in a scramble drill. Those are valuable skills but it’s not something that can consistently move the ball and we saw it. Comparatively Shough is hitting guys up the seam and over the middle in just classic 3 step/5 step drop fashion, looking off defenders, reading coverages. It’s night and day.
