But will you at least admit that payton Is going to give him a chance to compete for the job
Chalkster, how do you think it would go over if he said “nope, sorry, we will never give him a chance to compete for the starting spot”
Cmon what is he supposed to say

18 page thread about Taysom Hill
Posted on 4/28/20 at 12:19 am to GynoSandberg
Its going to be a competition between Jameis and Taysom to replace Brees. This is how this situation is playing out.
Theyre on short term deals both. Both want to be starting QB’s somewhere.
Figure it out Gyno.
This isnt madden, if Taysom loses to Jameis he’s going to try to play somewhere else and vice versa.
In what world did Taysom say he didnt want to be a starting QB?

Right. Could be coach speak. Could be real deal. I agree about that. It will interesting to see.
If its real and Taysom beats out Jameis, wow, cool. Another notch to this crazy story.
If not and its Jameis, we literally just picked up a former 1st round QB, pro bowler.
I think the saints have played this well.

Chadboy youve lost it.
Its 16 mill guaranteed. 21 with incentives. For two years.
Meaning we’re going to keep Taysom for at least two more years, because we are paying him 16 million whether we cut him after one year or not.
So you argue that Taysom is the real deal and there’s no way Jameis could be the Brees replacement, but the Saints are going to cut Taysom after one year? Even tho we’re paying 16 no matter what?

You’re dumb and can’t comprehend. You have to evaluate this contract based upon he was locked in a 1 yr 4.6 mill deal. I’ve said it over and over and you don’t want to listen. Go live your life being dumb.

Saints have carried 3 qb’s for 2 years straight
no we carried 2 QBs and Hill, who wasn't making much so it worked financially. now our "backup" QBs are making about $16-18M/year

Do you make anything of SP seeing winston over these years, from the combine and college workouts, to playing against him 9 times? Winston has 294 pass attempts vs the Saints, more than half of a season’s worth. Mind you he’s seen way more of Taysom Hill in practice, knows what he can do. Literally not even 30 days ago Hill was proclaimed your two
My point is, don’t buy into coach speak and Jay glazer. They are going to say good things about players 99% of the time. Payton and Loomis are about making this team better, not making sure Taysom Hill is their QB post Brees
yeah there is literally no logic in signing Jameis to a big backup QB deal and then also believing Hill is the successor
if Hill was our successor, we'd have signed a backup making a lot less money than Jameis cost

Its a 1 year deal for Jameis.
A 2 year deal for Taysomz
True we’re paying backup qb’s alot for 1 season, depending on the amount of Jamies’ contract.
Who gives a shite? We have to replace Drew Brees. We’re grooming a guy, and just brought in another guy. Same strategy we’ve had for two straight years, except now more of that money is in Taysom’s pocket.
Not a big deal.
Not long term.
And we have 2 good options on team to potentially replace Brees.
Compete and best man will win.

What about guaranteed money do you not understand??????????? No matter what, its a 2 year deal, 1 extra year added for a min of 16 mill no shite, but its a 2 year deal.
He will play for Saints for 2 more years. We are not going to cut ties after 1 and still pay the 16 million. Its already guaranteed.
No matter how you chop it up, it is ESSENTIALLY a 2 year deal for about 10 per year, when you add the 4.7 and 16 mill guaranteed together.
We have flexibility to MOVE ON after 2 years if we want to, and the overall cost is decent.
Fair for us, and fair for Taysom - he can move on if he wants if say Jameis wins the job.

This is literally never been the narrative discussed by the saints. Its been 3 QB’s for several years and we’re headed for a 3rd.
Anndd its because we have to replace Brees.
SFP your crying and you dont even know how much we’re spending on Jameis yet.

Who said Jameis was getting a big backup qb deal???????

The Saints have continued to insist that they believe versatile backup Taysom Hill could become the successor to the 41-year-old Brees, as they showed by signing him to a two-year, $21 million contract on Sunday. But the Saints have also made it clear throughout this offseason that they want to sign a veteran backup quarterback who could be ready to step into a game if needed so that they can continue using Hill as a QB/RB/TE/WR.

Sums it up.

Listen stupid shite frick. Understand this right fricking now, you are the one that doesn't get the fricking picture. The new monies created in this deal is not based on Taysom playing a fricking flex role, we had taysom locked in at a cost of 4.6 million. The new monies created in this deal is based upon locking Taysom in a year at low tier starting qb monies and summing it together. You over here doing math on shite on values of adding special teams value and flex value and overall pnut being a dick sucker value to try to figure the reasoning out.
Mickey Loomis is not paying taysom more money to play gadget guy in 2020 cause he's a fricking nice business man (although contract is averaged out), he's paying Taysom now to lock him up at a low tier QB cost for 2021.

Saints have Drew Brees so want to use Taysom as the dynamic wrecking ball with no fear of not having a capable QB option behind either.

yap, touching the ball 2.8 times per game is definitely a reason to play your QB of the future at other positions even if Brees goes down lmao

Not sure what you're arguing to be honest. The facts are out there lester of how they are playing him, what they think of his future, and the monies line up. If your biggest gripe with Taysom is you lack belief in his effectiveness as a future full time QB of the Saints, then just say that and we can leave it at that. But to argue what the Saints are doing and planning is futile cause there's nothing to argue. Its right there in front of your eyes.
