Naw, the world is well aware that Taysom has potential.

No one is taking SP’s words about Taysom lightly except for SFP and LE, and the flunkies that have chimed in a post or two.

Most posters in this thread just said they saw the reason in/for Taysom’s deal and moved on.

All I’ve said is that with Taysom’s value overall it makes sense:

(1) special teams (1-2 mill),
weapon on offense/short yardage,
(2) 8 tds last year, huge in our playoff game, (3-4 mill) and
(3) SP’s proclamation that Taysom could replace Brees/Steve Young comp - back up qb’s get a couple mill EASY. (2-3 mill)

Total - 6-9 million value.

Not unreasonable in my opinion, obviously the Saints see it this way.

Its not difficult. But since folks (SFP/LE) want to argue about it, fine.

I dont mind pointing out something this simple to understand.

That’s not at all how any of this works. Saints gave him a low tier starting qb salary for 2021 cause they see him as the future. Gave him security in some guaranteed monies now to go be Taysom the wrecking ball and also prove his shot at qb in 2021 and still have a chance to sign big qb monies if successful.

The end

You realize glazer reported this in January?

It wasn’t but a month ago when Sean Payton said Hill had earned the backup job. Dude brought in Jameis Winston to block the next Steve young. Didn’t even get a comp pick smdh

Jameis is value on the roster. When using Taysom as a wrecking ball you need a legit 3rd qb option just as they valued teddy’s role last year and proved worthwhile in MANY WAYS

Umm is Drew Brees on roster? Kind of silly point to make.

No dude. Low tier starter money is more than $8 mill a year.

Its more like 14$ mill a year.

I am saying the saints have good reason to sign Taysom to a two year 8 mill a year deal. His value adds up.

Sure he could be the future - SP keeps saying he is Brees potential successor.

I am not saying that he IS Brees successor like you seem to think is guaranteed Chadboy.

The saints are playing it smart. We now have TWO potential Brees successors in Taysom and Jameis.

Got Taysom on a two year deal. Winston is on a 1 tear deal. This is more than you would normally want to put on the qb position but its necessary for a short term.

The future is not mortgaged over this so I dont know why SFP is cursing up a flying frick storm.

Saints will evaluate what they can do with Jameis and Taysom and 1 of the two is going to be the guy.

This is the direction this ship is headed.

He got a 16.9 1 yr bump. You are averaging the two years out which is not the correct way to view deal

The plan was always to pair a third qb with Taysom and Drew.

We’ve literally done it for two years straight now with Teddy, Drew, and Taysom.

Why are you confused Gyno?

A month ago Hill was #2, everyone wants to bring in a #3 who could finish a game if Brees got hurt, then hand the reigns to Hill. A josh Mccown or chase Daniel as a3 was going to bring the “value” to the roster

Signing Winston does not fit the narrative that was portrayed by the own HNIC. You do not bring in a talented 26 year old, former 1st overall pick, one with such a negative stigma attached to him like Winston, bc you need a value at QB for a year

I cannot get back into this w you too much. But you know how this works? Hill shines all over the field this year at everywhere but QB. Winston “learns more than he ever had”, coaches and Brees rave about him, and he becomes the next QB of your New Orleans Saints. If Hill becomes the QB, you will have your day in the sun. But now is not the time bubba

He’s got 16 million guaranteed dude for two years. 8 per year.

You think we’re going to cut him after 1 year?????????????? And then pay him 16 million still.

Dont be stupid Gyno, Saints have carried 3 qb’s for 2 years straight, that isnt changing now, Brees about to retire etc.

Its irrelevant what your insisting on.

Why would they sign a Josh Mcknown instead of Jameis?

Who looks better between Jameis and Taysom is going to be a huge behind the scenes topic this year.

Preseason will be interesting.

Could be Taysom.

Could be Jameis.

I doubt a rookie, this year was likely our best chance for that.

That is the most reasonable scenario for anyone with a brain, P nut. Pull ya head out your arse and read the writing on the wall

Why would one not want Hill to shine as a RB/TE/WR and for Winston to grasp the offense

Did you even read what I posted or just rage responded

If they signed a Mccown, Hill would be the backup to Brees. You know, like exactly what SP said? You were so hung up on SP saying Hill was the next Steve young and how he wanted Romo.. you don’t care that SP said Hill was his 2!?

You are quite stupid. He got a 16.9 yr extension essentially onto his locked in 1 yr 4.6 price tag. Mickey isn’t doubling his salary now cause he’s a fricking nice guy.

JW would have to implode in preseason not to be #2.

No one thought he would be on the roster until recently.

Being on the roster is a “chance to compete”. But what does that really mean? Practice reps? Preseason reps? Payton paid Hill, that basically absolves him any commitment as QB of the future. He’s property of the Saints, he’s well compensated, he doesn’t owe Hill anything.

Chalky give me your opinion here

Do you make anything of SP seeing winston over these years, from the combine and college workouts, to playing against him 9 times? Winston has 294 pass attempts vs the Saints, more than half of a season’s worth. Mind you he’s seen way more of Taysom Hill in practice, knows what he can do. Literally not even 30 days ago Hill was proclaimed your two

My point is, don’t buy into coach speak and Jay glazer. They are going to say good things about players 99% of the time. Payton and Loomis are about making this team better, not making sure Taysom Hill is their QB post Brees
