Preseason reps are valuable for rookies and backups who are trying to make the team. They are a liability for starters whom you cannot afford to injure. Our starter and backup at qb is already settled on. We don’t have a rookie we need to break in. Book is there to take hits and help the coaches evaluate other players, that’s it. It might be frustrating watching a qb who sucks that isn’t going to make the 53 man roster, but it’s a lot better than watching our starter get a season-ending injury in a game that doesn’t matter. Costello isn’t making the roster over the ginger. Neither is Book, but Book likely knows the offense much better.
