Not asking for the best defense. But one that can force 3 and outs, swarm to the ball, and create turnovers isn't too much to ask for

We need to switch to a 3-4. We have all the personnel for it to be successful. Mike Nolan could do the job

Not only is that alot to ask for and a D that did this consistantly would be the best D in the NFL, but we absolutely do this when we need to. our defense doesn't lose us games.

Aside from the 4 fricking linebackers in that equation. Jesus Christ, you dumbasses will regret wanting to chase off GW if we can't get someone like Spags, which is likely seeing as how we have no ties with him that I know of.

Yeah, and several teams have that. Like I said, its not much to ask for a capable defense

The Saints have had some great D's in the past. Hell, bring back Ron Zook! That D was rolling. He had the right schemes with the players he had.

I can't argue with the Saints success this year, but both picks on Stafford were due to poor throws by him (and receiver falling down for one, and throwing into triple coverage due to desperation). How much pressure did we get on him? Did we touch him last night? No sacks. No hits. And this has been every game.

Luckily our offense is incredible. they rack up the points and keep the ball to milk the clock. The D "forces" teams to kick FG's, and sorry, a lot of times its the opponent's O shooting themselves in the foot (penalties, dropped passes, etc) that force these 3 and outs.

Our D was a force in 2009 (even though we gave up tons of yards) because we forced the turnover consistently. What's it been like the last two seasons? We make the playoffs, but if its a tight game against a capable team (Green Bay), I am worried our D will not force a stop or create a turnover.

And yeah, we have a higher ranking than the Pack in terms of D, but look at forced turnovers. They force them, we don't

you have some solid points for once. im not chasing GW out the door, but i agree with a lot you said. IF he leaves, i dont see it being the end of the world. our defense, i think, could only get better. what areas could really be in jeopardy if GW leaves?

our tackling? we dont use our arms!
turnovers? not many here.
sacks? again, not a lot of pressure.

id like to have him stay because of the consistency he has with our players and the team, but if he leaves it wont be earth shattering

we could play a 3-4...put Harper at OLB and stick Isa Abdul Quddus at SS. Boom, instant Steel Curtain.

Greer had one of the best games of his career last night in coverage, and you can't give him credit? You are just being irrational. Keep complaining, the Saints will just keep winning in spite of the other QBs just giving them the game

agreed. he played great

I did. He was incredible last night

1. One pick was due to the receiver falling down
2. The other pick was an awesome snag, thrown into triple coverage, under desperation

We are winning. I am happy. But I take the Black and Gold glasses off on occasion

Took us 17 games to get to this level

agreed, though I think Payton or Loomis might have informed him they would go a different direction. Only speculation on my part, but it kind of makes sense

Being objective and having an irrational hate towards the man because we give up a lot of yards are 2 totally different things. We don't have the personnel to be a shut down defense, but we are the best defense out of the top 3 offensive teams, how can one bitch?

Whose fault is that? Gregg Williams has to be the one who tells Loomis and Payton what he needs to be successful.

Gregg Williams places maximum value on Harper, a hard hitting, blitzing safety who is a major liability against the pass. He also does not place any value on the linebacker position.

I don't hate 3G. There is no reason to hate the man. But I expected much bigger things from the D after the 2009 season.

There is no reason the Saints organization shouldn't demand or expect a D like in SF, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Denver, etc.

That's just unrealistic though. You don't see teams have explosive offenses like us, NE, GB, Detroit and also a dominating defense. It's always the same way...if one is great, the other will be ok at best. Holds true for college and NFL
