Ten minutes of good highlights from today's scrimmage.

Those are some ugly “highlights”… almost every completed pass is to the sideline, no big plays over the middle. Secondary looks all world against that receiving group. Shough looks like he’s not even close to ready. He had a really bad stretch late in the video where I can’t even imagine sitting through watching that level of play in a real game. Would be 3 and out, 3 and out etc.

I saw a lot of 1st downs and a TD over the middle. There’s still a lot of work to do and there were some plays that were less than desirable, but it is a new offense so I’m not expecting Drew type highlights were the offense was the same for 10 years. There’s a lot of work to be done, but again, that’s expected the 2nd week of training camp.

wtf were you watching? In the first minute and a half there was 2 plays over the middle lol. I’m not really sure what you’re expecting from scrimmage “highlights”. There’s no true tackling going on either.

The one thing that stood out to me was how quickly Shough gets the ball out. I would think the coaches really like seeing that.

Good God those plays aren't necessarily in succession. They ran 126 plays in that scrimmage. The Offense almost always lags behind the defense all the way into the regular season.

That was a good watch. First time I've actually felt good about the QB competition.

Both Rattler and Shough should be able to operate in this offense with how it's currently constructed. There will be a lot of quick reads in our passing game via short routes, RPOs and TEs up the seam until the OL, WR and RB groups improve. It does seem like the offense would benefit from a more dual threat QB, but maybe they see it differently or think there's enough DT ability with what we have.

Rattler's snaps were pretty ho hum... only real highlight was that pass to the TE in the middle. Timing also looked good on that pass to the TE running a short out route.

I like what I saw from Shough overall but there were some questionable passes to covered receivers. He seems to think he can just power the football through a defender if he's targetting a covered receiver. Kinda like a young Favre or Stafford. This came back to bite him when he tried to side arm that pass against the grain that was picked off by Sewell. He can be a viable QB if he can progress through his reads and be smart with the football. He had plenty of great passes from the far hash to the opposite sideline.

There is still time and I do believe heavily in Kellen Moore based on what I’ve seen from him. I really hope Shough is the guy but he did not show me a ton in those highlights. Rattler looked better in my opinion and Haener was the only one willing to really let it fly.

Rattler also faced the #1 defense every snap including when with the #2 offense. Shough faced the #2 defense all day including some with the #1 offense.

If week 1 started today Rattler would be the starter. He has a significant lead over Shough right now. The game will have to slow down alot for Shough to be the starter.
