My family met him at Irene's some years back when I was 14 or 15. We were sat next to he and his wife, and he talked to us the whole night.

That's awesome. My family used to live 3 blocks from Irene's, so we were there quite often.
The new location is lacking that intimate atmosphere that the Chartres location had.
