Looks good to me without Marcus Williams and Eli Apple back there.

Marcus Williams isn't the problem. People complaining about Williams would probably want CGJ or Vonn Bell at Free Safety.

He could use some improvement in tackling, but that doesn't make him a bad Free Safety. He's easily one of the better Free Safeties in the league.

For Marcus' shortcomings, he is literally a top 3 Free Safety in the NFL. If you want to give up huge passes routinely in the playoffs, hope that Williams is hurt and not playing.

prevents 8-10 long passes a game through good coverage and perfect assignment reads but they don't show that on tv. So when he misses a tackle OMG cut him now. People were wanting to cut Kamara before this game because a High ankle sprain takes awhile to heal.

It's amazing none of you are coaches in the NFL.

It really is hilarious. You couldn't find a GM in football that places him outside of the top 5 Free Safeties in the entire league.

People on this board are, literally, calling him the weakness of the defense. fricking Looney Tunes around here.

People seem to think if they say it often enough it will be trues.

Has he made some mistakes in big situations? Yes.

Is he a weak link of this Saints defense? No.

Dude you Marcus Williams apologists need to just go line up on your knees at this point.

Dude is a joke of a Safety, is constantly late on the play and is the worst tackler I’ve ever seen.

He’s playing at Jay Bellamy levels yet you people just say “LOOK AT HIS PFF, YOURE GIVING THE KID A HARD TIME BECAUSS HE MADE THE WORST PLAY IN SAINTS HISTORY.” or the best one “HE WAS JUST A ROOKIE”

How’s he playing now?

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. My opinion is that you don't know shite about defense.

He had a bad game tackling. As a whole...he's having a very good year though.

Obviously, you'll disagree.

I might not know too much about scheme but I know someone who tackles looking straight at the ground is not using proper technique, that’s the only way dude tackles.

If he’s so good, when the saints inevidebly get rid of him let’s see where he lands and where on the depth chart he’ll be. Then you Williams chest pumpers can be humbled a bit, “maybe I don’t know as much as I think.”

Do you watch saints games? His poor tackling jumps off the screen. I’ve never once seen him make a clean play on a route or come up and make a strong tackle on a screen play short pass, things that safety’s should recognize regardless if he’s the SS.

I've seen him make more tackles than he has missed. Yes he has missed some big ones but he is the FREE SAFETY. If the ball carriers are getting to him then we screwed up somewhere

besides that he is third in the league for interceptions with 4 (leader has 6)

and 6th in the league in passes defensed with 13 (leader has 19)

unfortunately I couldn't find missed tackles except on a pay site but continue with your he is terrible narrative all because you saw it on a TV screen without watching the whole field to see if every player was doing their job.

His job by definition is to be the safety blanket, if he happens to be a garbage tackler who is also normally late on the play you have serious problems which the saints have.

I’ll take most backup safety’s in the league rn over Williams

Edit: just watch him try to make the play on the brown reverse or against kittle god he’s bad

your absolute ignorance of football is noted. Hate on him for missing tackles, that is fair, but M Williams is in the exact spot he is supposed to be in on 99% of all the plays on defense. If you can't see that you are unwilling to cave on your opinion even though it's terribly wrong.

Metrics, Stats, Coaches, analysts all back this up. But he missed a tackle on a play you saw while eating cold pizza from the night before so obviously you are the expert here.
