It's more a hypothetical.
But there are two scenarios. The first is he just loves the game and wants to try for another ring.
The second is he signs a two year deal. The first year is for the minimum and the second year voids but contains X amount needed to get him to sign.
This way the Jets still float the bill this year, and the other team pays a smaller amount next year ($2-4 mil).

so without reading all 4 pages of this, did they ever say who was the mystery player they met with? or is it still a secret?

It could have been Bush, or it could still be someone else.
Since they are familiar with Bush they may not have needed to bring him in. Or maybe they did.

ya, just wondering if it might have been someone else the way payton said they need to address several areas
