The only DA I'd want is Dave Aranda.

DA makes a lot of sense from several perspectives.
1. He is in house and has consistently produced a solid defense.
2. Keeping DA keeps at least half the team intact. Why blow up everything and have to start new with unknown.
3. Keeping DA give the Saints flexibility to hire a strong OC. Their OC choice may not be ready for HC yet but is a darn good OC.
4. DA is ready! He has had the opportunity to experience the HC job in a bad organization and then come back and gain more knowledge under a good HC and org that runs a tight ship. He is more ready than any first time HC.
5. Tom Benson was very loyal to his employees and not a chance that loyalty is not at the top of the organizations philosophy today. Every person in that organization is a product of Bensons loyalty beliefs.

IIRC they're required to interview at least one afro-american candidate. Affirmative action type rule in the NFL. Sure does sound like it's going to be Allen, at least in the interim.

token DCs.
This is going to be a smooth transition.
Nielson to DC. Nothing else really changes (other than an assistant that replaces Nielson).

Gail and the FO are going to make one hugely disappointing and underwhelming hire.
I tend to agree.
She should probably offer Brees the job and hope that the excitement of it buys here a few years.
