Saints get rid of these guys and rightfully so sometimes. But if you have real leaders on your team those character issue guys will fall in line. I believe you need some of these guys to actually balance out your team. You don’t need a team full of church ushers.

Guys like Chris Jones and Frank Clark supposedly had character issues coming out of college but yet they show up for the biggest games. You need them guys who don’t give a damn. I say all this to say let’s not trade our best players like CGJ because he’s not the church mouse you want him to be. He yelled at the coaches and training staff lol.

He also was demanding his contract be renegotiated and him being paid something like top 5 CB money. He was also disrupting the locker room. Just a general shite show, so don't pretend that he just got a little over emotional in a meeting one day.

Even if he is worth top 5 CB money (Now) the Saints are not in a position to pay him that. And likely won't be in till they get the cap hell they are in straightened out.

I don't recall them running off Darren Sharper when he was still any good either.

Well in Chucks defense the whole team was drug users back then. For most of them football wasn't high on their list of priorities.

Yes well I'm sure had they actually known he was a serial rapist they certainly would have.

Any talk of CGJ's contract? I'm interested in what he eventually gets. With hurts up for a new deal, I doubt he gets what he wants from eagles either.

Using the chiefs as an example isnt great IMO. They have a HOF qb to cover up their warts.

And i think we all know they arent in the super bow because of their defense.

He refused to play without a new contract and Demario had to actually kick him out of practice. Maybe say what actually happened

This is news to me, didn’t see that reported. That’s on me for not digging more. But he still was the heart and would of our D so I would try to make it work

You might want to check the timeline on this before keeping this take

Underhill reported it when it happened I believe it was him. Something happened at practice where he got nicked up and he started screaming at people about “this is what they wanted to happen to me” him get hurt and not get paid is what he was getting at. After that he became a huge issue and as defensive captain Demario had to boot him from a practice during training camp. It was over at that point

I mean I would bet 90% of the players are high in the offseason. not to mention nearly every adult in country is on drugs just some happen to get the "legal" distinction.

Don't care about drug use if you are doing your job and not hurting anyone. But keep clutching those pearls.

My recollection may be faulty but I thought there were other allegations that he had done this before the incidents that he was charged with.

It is also true that the team probably had not real knowledge of any of this prior to his retirement.

My main point, even thought I used a bad example, is that teams willfully look away all the time as does the NFL. The Saints are no different, so long as a player adds value to the team and doesn't significantly disrupt the locker room, they will look the other way.
