Gayle could be forced to sell the team if directly involved in covering up child abuse

hasn't she always been pretty in tangled with the diocese over there? I thought I recall even reading when she took over they'd have a seat at the table

Yeah. My mom worked at the archdiocese building for a long time in the printing and newsletter department for the deacons. Gayle would come do volunteer work in the building for years even before she and Tom were together.

So creepy it's like when Carmela and Ro kept having that weird priest over at their houses and theyd constantly be making zitis for him.

Church is for Sundays, weddings, and funerals!

Depends on the Priest. We have a family friend who does all our baptisms, weddings and such. An Irish chap who can drink me under the table even in his 70s while having deep philosophical sparring matches on any topic.

Wait I thought Gayle was a saint and we all loved and respected her? I don't know how to feel anymore

Gayle is clearly a fricking looney South Louisiana Catholic woman who refuses to blame the church over child abuse incidences.

Nothing was covered up though. She clearly believes that it’s not the church at fault it’s just aberrant priests. And the biggest tragedy to her would be if these aberrant priests caused people to abandon the church. So they need pr help to make sure that doesn’t happen.

It’s a loony mindset, but 90% of Louisiana Catholics over the age of 50 basically have the same view

I think that is overkill.

If her donation to Jesuit were for settlement monies it would be a bad look but I doubt that money came from a Saints account. More likely the NFL will tell her to knock it off with the PR assistance through the organization and then have the refs call more bad games against the Saints.

Good thing that's currently exactly who we have running our government, media, and largest corporations

If she instructed her staff to help cover up child abuse then she will be forced to sell the team. If it was only instructions to help soften the PR, then it’ll probably be a fine and some type of statement from the NFL disapproving of her actions

Not sure why the archdiocese would be seeking PR advice from the Saints, but IF this is limited to people in the saints organization providing advice on strictly cosmetic concerns - say how do we make the optics of this huge embarrassing scandal less awful - then that's not that big of a deal. That's what PR exists for. If there was any role in trying to conceal abuse... well thats another matter and anyone involved woudl have to go.

It drives me nuts that folks email about anything that even gets close to controversial these days. It is harder to destroy than an actual letter with its existence on multiple servers. Why not a phone call or talk in person about something like that?

This sounds more like they assisted in softening the blow with the release of the names which is very different.

Why is everyone assuming the plaintiffs allegations are true?

It would be interesting to read the emails between the NFL and all of the NFL public relations firms.

PR firms have many clients.

I wonder if any NFL PR firms are involved in this New Orleans case.

Let’s see what the emails say. I hope that’s the case. Still fricked up though

Because where there's smoke, there's fire.

They did something, it's just a matter of how directly involved they were and what exactly they did.

Sounds like they already have copies of some of the emails. It states an exact number of emails they already have. The Saints have admitted there were emails on the topic. My guess is they came across them in discovery involving the archdiocese and want to see if there are more.

Might’ve been as innocuous as “how did you guys handle bountygate from a pr perspective?”
