Outside of trading a player for draft capital, it’s difficult to remember the last time Mickey & the gang have traded back in the draft to gain more picks.

That said, it feels like we have the perfect storm this year to buck that trend. Few draft picks overall and non in the mid rounds. Is there a realistic possibility that we could trade back in the 1st and gain additional 2-3rd round picks or do we remain the same in your opinion?

Still not happening. Just isn’t how Loomis operates.

I’m not sure I understand your point here??

“ It’s about as annoying as the whole saints/lsu narrative”

Look it up.. the saints rarely ever trade back to gain more picks.

Mickey Loomis is on record of saying he does not believe in trading back. His philosophy is believe in your grading system and go get the guy your scouts believe in. Every year, the offseason talk is cap hell, Saints hate LSU players, and we need to trade back.

Hard to imagine this happens with their history but this would be the year to do it. It wouldn’t even necessarily have to be at 14. IMO they could trade the 45th and slide back and pick up a 3rd and possibly a 4Th to do it. The real positive is they draft has some quality player in the 2nd day that can be positions of need for they Saints.

Yeah, and this has burned the Saints way too many times.

i honestly cant recall them EVER trading down

they dont even entertain the idea of working to get more draft pics, they only give away pics for minimal advancement and reach for players that arent worth reaching for.

i think its more luck than skill when they make a good pic

I'm not saying I agree with the approach, I am just saying we have 20 years of this approach, so I expect nothing different.
