Let's say you take Sanders at 9...
Getting talent on Offense has to be a priority the rest of the draft right?
Yep. Gotta get a LG, TE and WR with the next three picks. After that, some combo of WR, RB, LBer, S, DT.

what's crazy is the most desperate qb needy team in the league is the browns at number 2.

Sanders held on to the ball WAY too long. But he was pretty accurate when he did throw, and took a beating all season but kept getting up.
Dart often melted under pressure. Ole Miss had no business losing to LSU this year, except Dart was bad in the second half. When OM needed him, he couldn't come through. Then he had an absolute mental breakdown vs. Florida. Florida kept giving him chance after chance to tie the game. Yet, he absolutely panicked and kept throwing the ball into double-triple coverage. Hell, he throws what looks to be a game ending INT and is sobbing on the sideline after...only for the call to be reversed. He gets yet another chance and immediately throws an awful INT.
Good coaching can fix a lot of things. Mental toughness isn't one of them. Sanders at least has that.

The best thing about the Saints being rumored for Dart or Sanders at 9 is that it's all posturing. This means we are not drafting a QB at 9.
Good job front office. You have fooled many Saints fans on this board.

I agree with all this.

Field Yates just said on GetUp that he doesn’t see Sanders getting past #9 and that the Saints love Sanders.
Just passing along what I heard.
All a plot to ensure Dart is there at 9

quote:Dart was not the issue against LSU. The defense, who played well most of the game, folded when it counted. Against Florida, Dart did break down towards the end. Coaching in that game contributed though as for some reason OM did not want to run the ball. Bentley must have been deep in the doghouse not to be utilized in that game.

quote:Makes zero sense. If a team believes enough in a QB that they think he can be their future, you take him at 9. Trading down when you want to pick a specific QB makes no sense at all. That is all fan and video game talk.
Dart is the only QB I would consider drafting period. And I would not pick him at 9. Trade back 7-8 spots get an extra 2 and pick him at 16

This is what I'm hoping is the case. If the Saints really loved Sanders this much, they would be idiots to broadcast it and risk having someone leapfrog them to take him.

Up 20-16 in the 4th quarter he floats an underthrown ball into traffic that LSU intercepts in the endzone. At TD on that drive may well end the game (who knows). In OT he throws two deep balls into coverage that are both nearly intercepted. OM was left with a 57 yard FG on that possession.
While he was much worse against Florida, he wasn't making great decisions once the intensity of being on the road in a tough environment became greater. They had chances to put LSU away and didn't.
Dart was a great frontrunner, but I don't know if he ever had a 4th quarter comeback in his Ole Miss career. Against Kentucky he had chances to put UK away in the 4th and went 3 and out twice...leaving the door open for UK to take the lead. Then, on the final drive, he gets bailed out on kind of a 4th down hail mary to get into FG range, at the 34, for the game tying try. He then immediately holds on to the football way too long and gets sacked for a loss the next play. The very next play after that, he decides to tuck and run instead of going out of bounds. He gets hammered and the ball pops out right to a UK player. It would have ended the game, but UK was offsides, which gave OM another shot.
Compare that with guys like Daniels and Burrow who seemed to, more often than not, be at their best in the most high-pressure moments. That immediately carried over to the NFL. When things are going well, Dart looks great. Unfortunately, things aren't always going to go well in the NFL and I wouldn't want a QB who has a tendency to panic in those situations leading me

quote:You forget the LSU game in Oxford? I seem to recall LSU being ahead going into the 4th with Daniels at QB. LSU was up 9 midway through the 4th. Dart brought Ole Miss back and scored 5 tds. Texas A&M 2023, down under 2 minutes, he brought them back to win. Against KY, KY won with a Hail Mary on 4th down. Dart also brought Ole Miss back to win but Tre Harris fumbled going into the end zone.

Yes, because I'm a talent guy. I want THAT guy on my team. I don't want to spend my time, booing that kid.
Literally plays his arse off every game and has a winning attitude. Literally trained and mentored by NFL brass. I want my winner built and walking in the door with that confidence, humbled, and the Saints don't have that at QB, not in a very long time.
PUT the cameras on the new Saints, Kellen.
Then I'll probably be disappointed about the Boise State narrative and "wow we drafted a RB..he went to the same school as blah blah blah..."

Where there is smoke there is fire. We learned that last year with Denver and Atlanta. The betting odds aren't out to lose money
