If you're mad at either side in this situation then you don't understand football. Ingram has turned into a fan favorite as of late but was pretty underwhelming his first few seasons considering we traded up to get him in the first round. He's not an elite, irreplaceable player and his stock is high right now across the NFL and he needs to get as much cash as possible considering this is most likely the last contract he'll sign of any substance.
The Saints simply couldn't and frankly wouldn't pay what he'll get.
It'd be crazy and anyone who disagrees is simply arguing on emotional merit. Ingram needs to get his money and he just isnt worth as much to the Saints as he will be to someone else.

2 of the top 3 cap hits on the team are the ones publicly whining.

The other being one who's been tweeting about how much money he's about to cash in on.

There was no way we could afford 8 million a year. If that was the price to keep him then we absolutely did the right thing. That said, I don't doubt for a second that his loss will have an effect on the offense. I only hope that it's small and easy to overcome.

If there's any position that Payton has proved he can plug and play with, its gotta be running back. Payton is to no name backs what Belichick is to short white receivers.

Ingram can get $4-$4.5 mill so that’s the market.

Both sides are doing right

Rumor was that Ingram was getting 8 from the Ravens.

Can't have your cake and eat it too, bet none of them offered to make up the difference between the Saints offer and what Ingram wanted. Players are always talking about how its a business, well this was a good business decision.

If they can't see that we don't have 8M to pay MI and wouldn't even if we did, then they are as ignorant as I pegged them to be. They are the same ones that use the "its a business" tag line when they see fit, but are crying like bitches about it playing out here. There is no one at fault. The saints cannot afford to pay him 8M so he chose to leave. End of discussion. Get over it. Those two rookies that are crying will get paid handsomely for their services when the time comes up here shortly. We get it's ya boy, but kindly STFU. "It's a business."

If Kamara signed a 5 year 35 mil deal
And Thomas signed a 5 year 60 mil deal

Then we can afford Ingram.

But they will want more.

Maybe if Brees would restructure and take less money the Saints would be able to keep a few players here and there.

MI pissed off a lot of players taking the money and running.

See how dumb that sounds?

Last season, based on average annual salary, Brees was like the 7th highest paid NFL quarterback however the new deal put him around 4th. Are there 3 better quarterbacks than Brees in the NFL?

Also, when they reached the extension last year that was worth around 50 mil with 27 mil guaranteed, it was reported that at least one other team offered 60 mil guaranteed.

Exactly. The team has to start positioning itself to retain players like Kamara and Thomas. That means you can't break the bank on Ingram.

Considering the price Murray, how can anyone bitch about the move? Murray is an upgrade imo.
