He's probably as good as or better than any safety we'd get in the 3rd round or later. He looks really smooth in coverage and has a knack for the ball and big hits. At the very least I think he will be a solid special teams player. Good for him to work hard and make it to the NFL in an unconventional way.

I was referring to that receiver we picked up last season from CFL.

You got money on Bush in Vegas?

I don't take this signing as a frivolous. They gave a 3 year deal so expect good things from the kid.

I'm also happy about...

Another reason I think he will turn out better than we think

Completely agree. The highlights show a lot of loose zones so hard to speculate how he'll play defensively, but love the ability and willingness to come up and hit. He'll be a good special teamer to start out at least. Remember Raphael Bush came in as a special teamer and ended the season as our starting safety.

Dat highlight tape doe...good gracious he's a violent hitter. I think his skills as a "LB" playing close to the line will actually be really useful in a defense like this

Can we just put him where Hawthorne was and call it a day?

Looks like the dude plays the ball well, can catch and wraps up when he lays the boom.

A nice change of pace from what we are used to.

I saw a lot of good things from him there.

Ball skills
Reads the QB well
Reads the play well
Pretty quick to close
Sits in zone and stays patient(unless he reads no receiver coming to his zone)
Times the blitz well
Slips the Olinemen pretty well
Follows the flow of the play on runs
Tackles hard
Isn't afraid to throw his body into the tackle
Takes good angles
Times the QB scramble well

One thing I did not like was his tackling technique. There's very little wrap up going on and it's almost all big shots. If he can't get the big shot he has a tendency to arm reach.

I don't want to compare him to Jenkins when I say this, but he lunges with his shoulder like Jenkins when tackling. The difference is that he throws his whole body into it instead of trying to graze the guy like Jenkins did. And when he does arm reach he at least keeps his arms close instead of fully extended.

Then there is the question mark of whether he can play man coverage. Everything I saw was zone.
