Hello Who Dat & Who Datettes and welcome to week 6 of the Saints Game Thread
Back to the early kickoff today as the Saints head east for their 2nd game of the season against an AFC opponent, going to take on the embodiment of the "Florida man" stereotype, Gardner Minshew, 2 former LSU standouts, DJ Chark & Leonard Fournette, and the rest of the Jacksonville Jaguars
This game is highlighted by 2 back-up QBs (Minshew & Teddy Bridgewater) who have filled in admirably since the team's starting QB went down early in the season, and in Minshew's case, may have won the starting job outright.
The Saints defense will have to continue its spectacular play against a Jaguar offense that holds the AFC rushing (Fournette - 512 yds) & receiving (Chark - 485 yds) yards leaders. Of course, the Saints come into the game with the NFL's receiving leader in Michael Thomas (543 yds).
While I've put a lot of onus on the defense to hold a tough offense, it'll be the offense's job to score against 1 of the more porous defenses in the NFL as the Jaguar D is 24th in the NFL in yards allowed (Saints are only 19th in this category). The Jag D is 19th in the NFL in points allowed per game, though the Saints are just 17th in scoring D
LET'S END MINSHEW MANIA AND MAKE IT 4 WINS IN A ROW!!!
A lot of weird stuff happened this week on the injury front. Obviously, QB Drew Brees is still out with his thumb injury (NBA fans... former Pel Anthony Davis apparently picked up a similar injury to Drew's in a preseason game this week and is going to miss the start of the NBA season for his new team)... Trey Hendrickson is still recovering from a neck injury that will keep him out of today's game... and Tre'Quan Smith's ankle got re-injured in last week's game against Tampa Bay so he will be out too... but then Alvin Kamara popped up on the injury report on Thursday with an ankle injury, did not practice at all on Friday, and is questionable to play today. Latavius Murray missed practice on Friday with a personal issue and should play today.
Jacksonville had a bunch of people on the injury report, but nothing major. TE Josh Oliver will miss the game with a hamstring issue. CB Jalen Ramsey, who's missed the last few weeks, is questionable with a back injury, as is DE Lerentee McCray with an oblique injury. Ramsey was limited on Friday, while McCray participated fully in practice.
Weather: Should be a nice day for football in Jacksonville with highs in the mid-80s and bright sunshine all day. No chance of rain today.
Uniforms: The Saints are busting out a brand new uniform combo for today's game. As confirmed by the team's social media accounts, the Saints will be in white jerseys and new white pants. It is NOT color rush as it'll be the regular white jerseys and the white pants are said to look like the black pants.
Current Standings:
NFC South
Saints 4-1
Panthers 3-2
Bucs 2-3
Falcons 1-3
(as I type this... the Panthers & Bucs are squaring off in London... Carolina up 17-7 in the 2nd Qtr)
AFC South
Texans 3-2
Colts 3-2
Jaguars 2-3
Titans 2-3

Don’t like them
I'm not going to judge them until I see the whole uniform
that said... I think what makes color rush look so spectacular is the accents (all the stripes/piping)
this combo will have none of that

Well we won't see Chad for about...five minutes

I’m guessing the team is trying to phase out some of our other combos?

Yep!

?Even though Jaguars’ owner Shad Khan said he expected Jalen Ramsey to play today, he will not. Ramsey is inactive. Again.? ?Oct. 29 trade deadline looms....?

I'm thinking they saw the success of the color rush and thought "I wonder if an all-white version of our regular uniform will be just as accepted"
and here we are
