Glad to have neck back. The Seattle game was due to the fact that Jenkins was out. Injuries cost us that game... your pro bowl strong safety didn't. Gw payton and Loomis understand this.... many of you don't

Carl nicks, dave thomas, zach strief etc. could have used this focus, on top of the fact that he is STRICTLY one dimensional.

Thomas and Strief aren't starters and unlikely anybody will be trying to offer either of them starter money.

what does this even mean?

As in, are we going to have enough cap to get these guys into camp since we just paid Harper? As in, I don't think he should be one of the top paid players on the team. As in, I would rather have Nicks on the team more than I would like to have Harper.

Also, Harper is not all-pro. He made the probowl last year, there's a difference. DeAngelo Hall made the probowl as well. Nearly the whole Cowboy roster made it a year or two ago.

Just my opinion though. While I don't agree with everyone else's, they are free to it.

Don't get me wrong, I like Harper, just think that was way too much for him.

Harper is solid, not great. But like I said earlier in another thread...Saints would probably be forced to overpay him. Most of the decent/good SS are gone already, even the bargain ones. Harper played his cards and got the contract he wanted. Weddle getting the money he did also didn't help because it set the bar. We had no other viable option at SS, so we had no choice.

veteran starter contracts are all going to be going up with the new rookie wage scale.

this should end the thread. i was suspecting this to happen. I also see the trend of rookie contracts to be fully guaranteed being the norm since they are much much lower.

Especially considering he is a liability in coverage.

One bad game doesn't make him a liability.

I specifically remember the seattle TD where the TE carlson pretends to fall down at the 10 yd line and Harper leaves him to follow the qb on the rollout.

Then the ball is floated to the left side with carlson wide open int he endzone and harper shaking his head.....

So you expect that to happen again? He had a bad game it doesn't doom the rest of his career.

If I'm not mistaken Harper and Jenkins were 1 and 2 for yards given up per pass against them in 1 on 1 situations. Link incoming when I find it. Let me go get the laptop.

Sorry, one of those moods.
But seriously, do you think he should be the top paid player on defense? One of the top paid players on the team?

You should ask youself first.

Does gregg williams the def. cord. of the Saints want him?

Then like rain the answer will be at your feet.

Will Smith makes 11 mil a year. Vilam got 17 million guaranteed

some of our best defenders are still on their rookie deals, Porter and Jenkins.

i mean its really not that far fetched. He is a little over priced but there isnt much left on the market that could come in and play.

His contract makes me think that there were other teams in the mix and the Saints were forced to match a price they wouldn't have offered otherwise.

W. Smith is scheduled to make 6 mil this year
Vilma 5.1 mil

You said it yourself, he's a little overpriced.

But whatever...
I'm out.
