I'd be surprised if CSP cuts Burton. He's a pretty good FB & makes vet league minimum.

Taysom is strong enough to play FB, but I don't think Montgomery has enough weight/muscle. He's a converted WR.

Josh Hill could probably play FB, but I think we keep Burton. CSP is 1 of the few coaches that actually values a FB.

Montgomery has played the role of FB before at GB at times.

Would not surprise me if the Saint kept no FBs this year.

I’m kind of curious if they are trying to convert the rookie back out of notre dame (Tony Jones Jr) into a fb. He is kind of a bigger slower back

I’m not convinced Montgomery is a lock. With a loaded roster, I’m not sure there is room. Dude really isn’t that good. I think we cut better backs last year in Buck Allen and Devine Ozigbo imo

Montgomery’s focus is on picking up Kamara’s playbook

And they’ve never kept a backup for Kamara who would be considered a direct replacement. To suggest Montgomery is anything close to Kamara is actually pretty funny

I agree with Gyno here.

My thoughts would be:

1. If we're giving Kamara a breather, it's not going to be Montgomery. It'll be Lat.
2. If Kamara gets injured, we'll shift the offense, there is no replacement. Montgomery wouldn't be a major factor. And in that case, having a backup to Lat could be more important.
3. Montgomery does have some versatility and league veteran presence, so that works in his favor. But Saints have bought into the hybrid, multi-tool player and have options.

Thanks for OP GMoney.

I pray that Malcolm Jenkins opts out so I can semi enjoy the Saints this year. I love the Saints but Malcolm Jenkins is a trash human being and should not reflect this classy organization.
