Dude, quit trying to play logic games.

It was a stupid statement. Deal with it.

Be logical and I wouldn't have to play logic games.

You're an irrational fan who has irational hatred towards Cam Newton, deal with it.

It's ok to think it and harmless to say it, BUT DON'T YOU DARE SAY IT BECAUSE...well I don't know why but just don't do it!!!!

I think that about sums it up.

Newton apologist makes me laugh

Brees after shellacking- "The fact of the matter is, we took one in the chin today. We got outplayed today," Brees said. "They played great. They made a lot of plays and we didn't. They deserve a lot of credit both defensively and offensively for the way they played they were certainly well prepared. This is a tough atmosphere to come in and play, but obviously we are much better team then what we put on the field today."

versus "...Are they better than us? No."

Newton is still learning the ropes of NFL PR. He has actually come a long way from his early extreme pouting and emotional outbursts. You can see he struggles to have any humility. Again, compare their statements about the other team after being blown out-

Brees- "The fact of the matter is, we took one in the chin today. We got outplayed today," Brees said. "They played great. They made a lot of plays and we didn't. They deserve a lot of credit both defensively and offensively for the way they played they were certainly well prepared.

Newton- Those guys just were better than us today

Humility is sumpin that Brees oozes while being uber competitive. Newton shows he still is struggling to learn how it works.

There would not be this parody of Newton is that wasn't the case-

I don't care about the SEC. He subtly rubs me the wrong way. This isn't the best example but within context of everything, I see it as a comment that comes off with him sounding like a loser

Does anyone really give a frick about Cam Newton or what he says? He's irrelevant. He's a slightly above avg QB in the NFL. This isn't college anymore. No one gives a shite about what he did in college. If he wins at this level, he'll become relevant and his antics will be viewed as something positive. Until then, he's nothing and he's viewed as a clown. Those are facts.

Overreactions to any and every Cam Newton related event that is completely harmless and irrelevant make me laugh too.

I don't know if it is an overreaction. It is just something worth discussing on a boring monday.

I like Cam Newton the player until I see him celebrating like a fool when his teammates are fighting. He should be the one yanking them off...I like that he celebrates first downs, then they show his eyes looking at himself on the jumbotron. His press conferences are the worst. He comes off like a jackass win or lose.

I don't think it is a huge deal, but it is worth discussing. He's just not a leader. I think that team is in trouble when steve smith leaves.

to summarize, he comes off like an egomaniac, which I'm sure alot of players are, but Cam lets us see it.

How Brees said it was far more tactful than how Newton said it, but it is substantively no different. The words when evaluated as a whole do not really mean anything different. It just sounds nicer.

Newton is kind of a jack arse, but this isn't one of those times. The world of PC is a waste of time, and PR posturing personally means very little to me. It's manipulating people with meaningless distinctions.

Kobe Bryant is too, and let's us see it, no one questions him.

I just hate that we complain about boring coach speak and guys not being honest in interviews, then we complain when a guy is honest.

FWIW, this is why guys don't give honest answers in interviews, for reasons like this.

I can't speak for the world. I don't watch the NBA.

you're preaching to the god damn choir on that one. Do you think Newton is genuine though? He is mixed between qb speak and speaking his mind. Either or, riding the fence makes him come off like a dick and it is boring.

example...he said they were focused on the next game, then he couldn't think of who they were playing. Just say you're pissed. There are ways of saying you're pissed off without melting the frick down though. Like I said, no big deal to me...but he subtly irks me with his mannerisms, facial expressions and behavior on the field...his play is outstanding at times.

I think you should speak what is on your mind unless it harms your team or organization...I wish cam would go for it. Between Drew, Peyton and Brady, you know who is the most interesting? Brady...he doesn't give a frick what you think about him. He acts the way he acts and not one iota of it is a front. I bang supermodels, wear expensive clothes, I curse and get pissed...I think drew is genuine most of the time...he just really seems like that guy.

I probably should clarify on Kobe as many question him lol. But none of that stuff stopped him from winning 5 titles, that's more of my point, is that it doesn't mean much IMO.

I think it's like you said, it's a mix of coach speak and speaking his mind probably moreso than most QBs.

But I love that stuff, I wish all players spoke their mind on all issues and basically always told the truth, the only exception is I understand when you gotta lie or give PC talk to protect the team regarding in-house stuff.

He's supposed to think they're better than us. Nothing wrong with what he said and it's not bulletin board material.

no it wasn't. so is it stupid if Brees said "we're better than Seattle and we'll prove it next time we play them"

Absolutely nothing wrong with what he's saying. His team looks to him as a leader and they want to see that kind of mentality and attitude. We still have to go to Carolina and you think they'd be up for it if their captain just said, "They're better than us, period"?

If you can't see the difference between what Brees said after the Seattle game and what Newton said after last night's game, then I can't help you.
