Do we really want him to be 34 or 35 and grooming somone for only one season and maybe retire?

Absolutely. We'll have to worry about it at some point, and I'm all for QB development to create tradebait, but the bigger problem the Saints will have is keeping Brees surrounded with talent in the coming years. For example, right now our Oline is performing great with a bunch of small contracts players. With the salary cap these guys won't all get their big payday with the Saints and will need to be replaced. Refreshing the other positions is much more important at this point than finding Brees' eventual replacement.

For now we need to focus on maximizing this window, not opening the next window.

well-said. i was thinking about steve young.. and him having to wait behind one of the best ever for some years..i think around 4?

it doesn't seem like young played many seasons before retiring.. maybe 8 years? but he more than maximized the heck out of all those years he played.

Russell Wilson from NC State... never turns the ball over, very accurate, mobile, football smart... much like Brees... with a couple of seasons under Brees and Payton the guy could be a good one

He's definitely a good completion type of guy.. doesn't turn the ball over either. and he's another 6ft or under QB. Not much size but he has a very strong arm..
