I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Was like watching a Les Miles team. Why on earth would we run as much then?
If that was all Carmichael, I'd have to assume Payton will be taking playcalling duties back, right?

Meh, we scored a TD on the drive and had a shot to get the ball back with 2:30 left.

But 1 first down and that was pretty much it. Gave our defense no room for error.

I agree. Stupid play calling.

He starts running the football when his team is down 10 in the fourth quarter.
Look, it might just be him taking what the defense will give him, but there are consequences for that. And there was no urgency at all on offense. I don't know why Drew Brees didn't pick up the pace any more than that.
It's just a complete lack of awareness. I just wish this team was a little less risk/reward on offense and lot more dedicated to running the football. The Saints are not a bad team, but they are a team that can't get out of their way.
They need to look to Dallas as a way to rebuild their offense and it will start along the offensive line. The patchwork Kelemete and Lelito and Jahri Evans type of guys are not going to get it done.
The defense did play well and have steadily improved, but Sterling Moore was not good last night--giving up the TD to Olsen and the 3rd and long to Benjamin late in the game were just awful, terrible plays.
It sucks watching this.

In general, I have no problem with this.
However, he called a timeout with 8 minutes left on defense, only to run the ball 3 of the first 4 plays on the next drive.
He needs to have challenge and timeout privileges revoked.

It wasn't so much the playcalling as it was taking 25 seconds in between plays.

There was no reason we should have been running the ball at that point. Unless you had a 2nd or 3rd and short and just needed to get the 1st down out of the way.

If they dont score, the defense has no margin of error. This is such a pointless hindsight thing to bitch about in this game. We had a great shot at winning, vonn bell should have favored the 1st down marker and not the check down receiver with his zone coverage on that specific conversion.
How bout we point towards the hindsight irrelevent things like terrible terrible special teams yet again. This is the 3rd game this year where a special teams td was directly the difference between winning/tying and losing in score.
Our special teams has never been good, ever. Lets resist the urge to cloud the narrative with bullshite like taking an extra minute and a half or so on a full field drive, and focus on the blatant huge in your face reason we lost, our shitty special teams and their st coach with 12 lives.

uh, yeah. But, 4:30 would have been better no?
Carolina was going to make it tough because they were keeping everything in front. But, running the ball as much as we did was plain stupid, IMO. There was a lack of urgency.

Yeah. There's a laundry list. But the lack of any urgency on that last drive just p.s.'d a really frustrating night and was very atypical Saints offense.
