1. Marshon Lattimore, CB, New Orleans Saints
PFF Grade: 94.1
Elite Stat: Lattimore has surrendered just 0.61 yards per every snap he’s spent in coverage this season, the fourth-lowest rate among 114 qualified cornerbacks.
Unreal, what an unbelievable start to a career. Never would I have ever guessed that as we enter Week 10 of the season a rookie would be our third-highest graded player, regardless of position – up to this point only Bobby Wagner and Aaron Donald have earned a higher overall grade. Opposing quarterbacks have targeted Lattimore in coverage 33 times so far, they’ve earned a 37.4 passer rating on those throws… they literally would have been better off just throwing the ball into the ground (39.6 is a quarterback’s passer rating if they just throw an incompletion on every pass). Lattimore has quickly shown us that he’s one of the best in the business when it comes to making plays on the ball as his 21.2 playmaker index (pass breakups combined with interceptions all divided by the number of targets into a players coverage) ranks sixth out of 102 corners who’ve been targeted at least 20 times. The phenom out of Ohio State is yet to surrender more than 38 passing yards in a game and he hasn’t graded lower than 80.0 in a single game after Week 1. Enjoy the greatness people, as of right now we’re all witnesses to what has been a historic rookie year so far.

it sucks for cam that they have a cat for "edge" b/c he's got double the competition
i think we all agree that the only 2 saints that should be up for all pro consideration at this point are cam/latt

Cam was listed as an honorable mention so essentially a 2nd team All-Pro

Updated to add Rookie Rankings. It isn't really close anymore.

You would expect guys like Wagner and Donald, who play extremely well every year, to do that well at times.
But for a rookie CB to be right behind them, that's amazing.

Thanks. I edited OP, I missed it this time somehow.

Yep. Tre White is the only guy that is even remotely close to challenging him for Defensive Rookie of the Year, & Lattimore has really widened the gap over the last 3 or 4 games. TJ Watt might get some consideration b/c of who he plays for, but he's not even close imo. Carl Lawson has some nice numbers as well.

Hopefully Rankins develops into an Aaron Donald type in a couple of years.
Rankins has technically played a year of football (he was on IR until about week 9 last year). Donald wasn't a great player until his 2nd or 3rd year.

He was rookie of the year and a pro bowler his rookie year with 9 sacks. He was great very early.

Damn, my bad. For some reason, I thought it took him a while.
Oddly enough, Rankins was on pace for 8 sacks if he played the entire season last year. Being next to Fairley was very beneficial to Rankins.

That's pretty impressive that our first 4 picks are all on the top 20 rookie PFF scores. Think about that...Our #11, #32, #42, & #67 picks are top 20. I know some people were a little ticked that we gave up a 2nd round pick to take Kamara at #67, but I doubt anyone is now.
We really couldn't have had a much better draft. The only thing you can see as a negative is passing on Lawson, but it's not like Hendrickson was a bad pick. He's been pretty damn good himself. Anzalone was looking legit until he got hurt as well (he played good in every game besides the NE game, but he was guarding Gronkowski).
