They said they would leave it as called by the refs. Horrible explanation but I don't care either way.

Yeah I'm not bent out of sgape but I just don't see how something can be one thing when there's that it is something else. Oh well.

To be clear, No official from the NFL or Elias said it was a lateral.

To be more clear, they didn't say it wasn't.
And I agree AJF. It's all stupid. Just say you aren't reviewing it and leave it at that.

From fox sports
Manning's pass clearly looks like a lateral in one camera angle. Another angle, from above, however, appears to show Decker gathering in the ball at the Denver 48-yard line with Manning about a foot deeper than that.
Apparently as per the policies of Elias, the evidence was not overwhelming to over turn the NFLs stats that it was a pass.
I am a Saints fan and all of this looks like whining.

Whatever they need to tell themselves. I don't care. Just call a spade a spade. It was a backward pass. Anyone with one good eye can see it from any angle. If that weren't the case, they would have stated explicitly that it was forward. They didn't. They left their explanation ambiguous. That's what bothers me. Not the record.

Do you have a link to the "overwhelming evidence" standard used by Elias prior to this week?
There is no doubt the record was going to be broken or Manning would have gotten the record, had he remained in the game. But the fact is that was a lateral and if it had been another lateral at another time during the season by any quarterback the play would have been called a run and not a pass by Elias.
The end justified the means in this case for the NFL.

Of course they can't call it a backwards pass you idiot

So much butthurt in this thread.
NFL records it as a pass.
Elias confirms it remains as such.
ensues.
Manning cares less about that particular record than some of you guys and based on his on the field reaction and statement, less than Drew did when he broke it
And I am a life long Saints fan with season tix for 19 years

This is confusing. Because earlier you stated:

Rules wise, it should be reviewed, like every thing is, per Elias. If they deem it a pass, so be it. Good job Peyton.ad.

Yes there is. Read any ap article about it. In fact I posted it from fox sports.com earlier in this thread. Cannot link from phone, but it is quoted in this thread

Link a picture, because that angle I posted makes it as clear as humanly possible. Indisputable

There is a dumb frick that wrote about an imaginary video
Posted on 1/1/14 at 12:44 pm to Chad504boy
This cat hasn't even seen the video, but he read about it in an ap article.
I don't understand How someone can argue with that angle

As far as I can tell the view from above is not out yet. I am sure it'll finds it was out in the next couple of days. But most articles do reference that additional camera view.

Good. Break it again next year. Better than hearing about it all the time anyway.
