What badasses? I see people asking questions about 2 defensive ends that Payton, an offensive genius, spent 3 first round pics on that can't stay on the field. Yet we have no receivers and bringing John Taylor out of retirement would be an upgrade to what we are currently fielding.

So there was a history of Davenport and Turner being hurt in college?? I wasn’t aware of that. Should Sean have been aware or clairvoyant that both would be injury prone? It’s pretty obvious to anyone that knows football (admittedly this likely leaves you out) that Davenport is a beast when playing. So unless you want to blame a head coach for not knowing a guy will be injury prone, not sure how you can fault him for (in Davenport’s case) drafting a hell of a player. But I’m sure you will anyway.

Turner was injured the majority of his senior year in college and seemed to be a pretty big reach by us at the time. This so far has been proven true...

I agree he was a reach (especially at a position I think we were fairly strong at) and missed time his senior year. But he played 11 games his Sophomore year and 12 his Junior year. Not exactly injury prone.

He and Zion Williamson must have the same injuries...

Yep, it also stings when the DEs drafted below him in the first round are all playing pretty well. Seems like a wasted pick by the FO

You realize if he was hurt during his senior year, you bringing up his sophomore/junior year injury record is irrelevant right?

If by majority you mean two games, sure

You realize football is a violent game that can lead to injury. Playing pretty much two full seasons, followed by a senior year where he actually missed only two games (remember it was a Covid year) is hardly equivalent to being injury prone.

It's not impossible that he turns this around, no doubt.

But, so far, this has been a disaster. You are in denial.

It certainly hasn't been good, but "disaster" would be him playing poorly. I think he flashed some, so hopefully he can get healthy and be a player

I’m in denial?? Exactly what are you talking about? Clearly a guy who you drafted in the first round that can’t get on the field is a disaster. And I thought when they drafted Turner it was a bit if a reach, because he wasn’t projected that high and it wasn’t to my view an area of need. The point of my post was in response to a serial Payton basher who blasted him for drafting two injury prone DE’s. I merely pointed out I wasn’t sure how you could blame the fact that they are injury prone on Payton when neither really exhibited that in college. How this makes me in denial is confusing. Care to elaborate?
