Which Team would want Dennis Allen as their Head Coach ?
I Say None would Hire or trade who they have now for Him
So why are we holding onto someone that Noboby wants??
Sad State of affairs at 5800 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA

I share your frustration but what coach worth his salt would choose the Saints over the other eight openings.

Why do people poor mouth this job so much? You have an owner who isn’t crazy and will fire you for parking in the wrong spot like Carolina. It’s a franchise willing to spend money unlike the Chargers owners. The division is winnable unlike Vegas. It isn’t in a media hotbed like New York or New England. You don’t have to follow a legend like Belichick or Carroll, you follow the worst coach in the NFL. The front office is willing to make moves to win and willing to be patient. And the roster isn’t completely devoid of talent and enough success can be had so you don’t get fired in two years while you build.
I swear, Louisiana is full of the most self hating people in the world. This is a good job.

It’s the catastrophe syndrome that exists on every board on this site. When things are bad the entire world is burning and it will never get better.
Not sure that it’s unique to Louisiana, as a lot of these posters don’t even live here anymore, but definitely feels that way just being on TD.

You’re still living in the New Orleans area though. It’s a unique taste that A LOT of coaches with young families aren’t going to prefer especially without any ties to the area. This isn’t a post to shite on New Orleans but objectively if you have options there are ALOT more appealing and likely safer places to be (again if you have options).

The only time these guys are actually in New Orleans is on Sunday. If you have a young family it’s very easy to have your family in Old Metairie or the Northshore and be on Airline Dr. in minimal time.
You guys need to get over your fear mongering.

New Orleans has a mayor that removed home field playoff advantage from the Saints during covid.
Drew Brees’ children were threatened over his political stance and his wife flaked and he acquiesced. The coach and organization did not have his back.
Malcontents on the team should have been immediately removed for degrading a HOF QB. There is systemic rot and complacency in management.
There is no point in attacking the figurehead owner. Mr Benson had the team setup to run the way it’s being run by his chosen people.
The old days of a coach wanting to shop for the groceries and then cook the meal are over.
A strong alpha personality coach will either not be interested or management will not be interested in these type of coaches.
The Saints are left with apologizing DA and an OC PC that seems to be afraid of his own shadow.

I grew up in New Orleans area and my family is all still there, I’m not fear mongering. The “safer” part was added because that’s simply the first thing a lot of people that aren’t overly familiar with the area talk about, that and how dirty the area is. I’ve had those conversations literally hundreds of times with patients when I tell them where I’m from. “It was great for a few days but man I wouldn’t want to live there.”
Old metarie and the north shore are still pretty meh places when you have options and aren’t from the area if we’re being objective about living in suburban areas that are in driving distance to team operations.

If you make a good living (which nfl coaches and players do) and can’t find a place to be happy between Uptown, Lakeview, warehouse district, old Metairie, Bucktown, and the Northshore then maybe it’s a you problem.
Imagine if we had to compete against places with no crime like Chicago, Philly, Baltimore, Detroit, atlanta, or Houston. Then we’d really be in trouble.
ETA: I’m sure your patients in St. Augustine Florida are very representative of a potential NFL player or coach. This can’t be a real conversation.

New England moved quickly. If they wanted DA would they have had to dance around a few weeks to play Rooney Rule?

Haven’t lived in St Augustine in 14 years.
And if you can’t see that a lot of those places are far dirtier and shittier(relatively) than a ton of this country (when you’re making a nfl coach salary) then maybe its a you problem. They’re unique and fun and I love them. I just can be objective enough to realize that people from a lot of places won’t.

because when you cant be fired, you can let your friends keep their jobs, even when they prove they are incompetent at doing it

I agree St. Aug., NOLA isn’t for everyone. Some coaches are more West Coast, some more Midwest and some more Southern. Every coach is going to have a preference on what they are looking for (Proven QB, good ownership, location, fan base/media market, money, etc.)
And New Orleans isn’t a bad place to live like a lot of the people who are eaten up with politics on this forum who haven’t been to New Orleans in years say it is. Every city has pros and cons.
I don’t have any issues with your point. My issue is with the posters who just crap on this job like it’s a broken down Ford Pinto and every other job is a shiny new Ferrari. It’s extremist and poorly thought out.

Ask yourself this, when we hired him, did anyone else really want him? I don’t think he was mentioned as any team wanting to interview him. That shoujd tellbyku something.
