You can not just use quality as a standard for value, like Player X is a better play than Player Y, so he should get paid more. There are also business considerations, not just pure football ability, so even if you can say that Tom Brady is a better QB, that does not mean he has the same financial impact on his team than Drew Brees has on the Saints. That alone could justify paying Bress more.

Brees has clearly been one of the top 3-4 QB's in the NFL since 2006. That makes him elite, its not just yds. Look at the other stats, comp %, TD's, look at the wins and loses. If you want to argue Brady is "better", that's fine, but he's not available, when you have an elite QB, you lock him up, those guys are not easy to come by.

he is performing very well.

he has almost as many interceptions as TD's so far this year so this may be a bit of a stretch
He's getting beat up like Eric Carr, jagoff. Ask Brady and Belicheck why they lost their last two Super Bowls.

was carl nicks a critical piece of drew brees being successful and if so, why would you not pay him what he wanted as well (even if it meant making cuts elsewhere)?

This. Also, the answer is no. Guard is not our problem. Grubs actually is doing a relatively god job.

So Ben Roethlisberger, Kevin Kolb, Andy Dalton, Christian Ponder are 2-5 and Brees is 25.

Got it.

Brees is off to a bad start but he's generally everything you want from a QB.

dude frick you. He lost his HC, Off. coord, mentor, and friend on the sidelines. No other QB ever had to deal with that. Fact. And he is performing very well. He can't help the plays given him, the oline play, dropped balls, lack of a running game, etc...
Specifically, what more do you want him to do?
First off, I'm surprised you didn't have some gif to post. Plenty of QBs change teams and are successful. Although the situation isn't the exact same it is comparable agree? He is performing above average. The turnovers are too high. Dropped balls are part of the game, it happens. Specifically, I would like to see him take command of the game, especially in the second half and dominate. Use his amazing accuracy to throw guys open as we have seen in the past and win tough games, like elite qbs do. To me, he doesn't have the killer instinct we saw the past couple of years.

Orly. Name them.

I would to, but its hard to do with a little kid in the driver seat. Sp is gone. He was the general, the commander, the playcaller, the dominator, Drew Brees is his perfect tool. Like a sniper and his rifle.

The sad thing is the WR just arent playing well either, combined with playcalling and the atrocious oline play, especially from the tackles, he doesnt have much to work with.

Its there, his mentor is just not there to bring it out.

HERE you want some discussion.. how about some tldr type of rant shite.

bring on the ban idgaf right now but you sir are a fricking idiot.

grow up and get real. the next guy up always gets the biggest contract. it was brees' turn. he earned it. he was severely underpaid for highly over achieving. be happy. i swear people live too much in the exact present moment.

YOUR BOY TOM BRADY HASN'T EVEN WON A SUPERBOWL IN WHAT 9 frickING YEARS? BREES PUT ON A SHOW AGAINST BRADY H2H. SAINTS frickED THAT frickER UP WITH CORNERS OFF DE STREETS LITERALLY THE WEEK BEFORE. BRADY 3 INTS? WTF.. AGAINST THE SAINTS GARBAGE D. frick THAT GUY.

he brought this city a superbowl.. you know where he went perfect in 09 with no post season INTS.. NONE. not one.. and won a superbowl MVP. pay the man. he's paid. this season was fricked from the get-go.. but don't go crying over brees' contract.

YOU KNOW WHATS GREAT ABOUT BREES CONTRACT. IT'S EXTREMELY FRONT LOADED. ESPECIALLY THIS SEASON. WELL THIS SEASON IS GONE TO shite ANY WAYS.. SO IT'S ACTUALLY A GOOD THING.. BECAUSE WE GET TO KEEP OUR GUY AND PAY HIM.. AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HAVING OTHER HIGH PRICED PLAYERS RIGHT NOW. SO IT'S ALL GOOD.

BREES JUST BROKE THE ALL TIME PASSING YARD RECORD LAST SEASON.. NEARLY DID IT A COUPLE SEASONS BACK. HE'S ON THE VERGE OF BREAKING THE TD STREAK WHICH SOME SAY IS UNBREAKABLE. HE'S A frickING MONSTER OF A QB WITH INCREDIBLE ACCURACY.. HIS RECEIVERS ARE LACKING THIS SEASON THO. BUT IT'S ALL GRAVY WHODI.

THATS WHAT MAKES BREES AN ELITE QB..

HAVING THE NUMBER 1 OFFENSE ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME HE'S BEEN HERE.. HAVING THE MOST WINS.. SETTING TD AND PASSING RECORDS LEFT N RIGHT.. BEATING HOF QBS H2H LEFT N RIGHT.

I think youre safe. There's no admin here. This season for our beloved board is going to be as goofy and unorganized as the refs will be this season

I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW A TRUE FAN COULD EVER QUESTION BREES' CONTRACT.

THE 2009 VERSION OF YOURSELF WOULD BEAT THE EVER LIVING shite OUT OF THE 2012 YOURSELF IF HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY.

no doubt. but it's just disgusting. this is more disturbing than LSU fans eating each other out.

no he's not playing at an elite level (yet) this season (he's playing good enough to win), but the entire team is basically hot garbage. it's just incredible how some of a fan base can turn on the leader and face of your franchise so quickly. truly incredible. if you can't recognize brees as an elite qb then you are oblivious.

his throw yesterday to Graham was just a thing of beauty. you literally cannot place it any better than that.. and the man drops it. then you got the henderson overturned catch as well and he still put up 3 passing tds.

They all came in on this:

Sometimes people fall off. frick them. Its the ones who stay on through the bumpy terrain and the smooth that belong to be here.

Favre, Manning went from Dungy to Caldwell to Fox, Brees himself did it coming from San Diego.

Brees should have enough command of this system to make adjustments on the fly. Has he forgotten what was successful in the past or forgotten how to make the correct audibles? I also am not discrediting the vacancy of Payton. I think Carmichael is a stooge.

Still he has to make better decisions in those tough situations. He forcing things, for example the pick in the redzone this weekend. That was points given away.

I feel this is subjective. I think it is a confidence issue right now.
