Make some room for Ruiz man

Loomis let Payton talk him into taking only players that he thought helped him win that year and never building for the future. He knew he was done when Brees was and Loomis enabled that approach instead of protecting the future of the organization.
Then, we whiffed on a bunch of those greedy picks and that’s why we’re here now.
frick Payton and fire Loomis.

Loomis and Ireland have had arguably one of the greatest drafts of all time, followed by a decade and a half of the shittiest drafts of all time. They both need to go.

After getting leapfrogged in 2017 by KC so they could pick Mahomes, the Saints had both Lamar Jackson (2018) and Jordan Love (2020) available at their picks in subsequent years and chose to go with Davenport (in a multi-pick trade up, no less) and Ruiz.
The lack of planning at the qb position towards the end of Brees' career has fricked this org royally.

What’s sad is those trades alone would be enough to get most GMs fired
God damn I wish I had as much job security as Mickey Loomis

Everyone says this, but aside from GB no one really does that, NE didn’t have a replacement for Brady (nor Tampa) on the roster. Denver didn’t have a replacement for Manning Pittsburg for Roethlisberger etc etc.
What screwed this organization is they continued to act like they were contenders when they weren’t, that made a bad cap situation worse by kicking the can and extending old and declining players. Signing Carr, a mediocre QB at best at that contract was incredibly stupid They also continued to draft like they were a player or 2 away, trading picks to move up.

This is it in a nutshell. Add to it some horrible first and second round picks for years to top it off and you have the current shite sandwich Loomis is feeding us.
