No not Andre Branch. He isn't even a starter and has 6 sacks in his "best" year.

He'd be similar to Okafor, only a little better starting off. It isn't like he isn't going to improve. He just will never be that 12-16 sack guy.

Do show me this film of Barnett being dominant.

If you want dominant film go look at Malik McDowell. Oh wait you won't consider him because he doesn't have 13 sacks.

No, I won't consider him because he is a lockeroom cancer which is funny because Barnett has the work ethic & leadership intangibles that McDowell doesn't.

I don't see it that way. I think his floor is an above average DE. Not great, not bad.

I think you got the wrong film for Taco. Try this one:

That's highlights. If you're watching highlights you're doing it wrong.

Said who? He's never had a problem until his junior year when he was literally the only player with a pulse on defense.

You offer nothing? You love film. Film and eyes are all that matter to your argument. You got any?

Taco's floor is NOT above average DE. His floor is probably closer to the aforementioned Andre Branch.

But his ceiling is similar to the aforementioned Jones.

He's still very green and inconsistent in his play. He work ethic will go a long way to determine where he ends up.

I will say I haven't heard bad things about him so I wouldn't think he'd go the Jarvis Jones route.

Derek Barnett

Taco Charlton

Do it yourself. I'm not going to link you every single play. Watch all of their tape.

He was basically equal to Michael Sam in terms of athleticism. Taco is more gifted than both Sam & Jones but the inconsistency at Michigan is a concern. Sometimes the light switch comes on where mastering technique & understanding your opponent matches the physical ability allowing a player's game to take off. It's a risk though because if that light switch never comes on, you end up with a wasted pick.

I see Taco on the cusp of being great. The moves he uses (when he decides to use them) don't look like just throwing shite on a wall to see if it'll stick. It actually looks like he understands what he's doing (to a degree) and how to execute it properly.

I hope to see plays where he uses his hands and arms to defeat the OT's.

It's game film. I don't understand why you're laughing. Someone obviously just put more effort into cutting up tape for Barnett.

You will. You won't see him try to bend the edge as much as Barnett, however.

Derek Barnett vs Northwestern 2015

Barnett sack that is missed in above video

Taco Charlton vs Northwestern 2015

The one huge difference is that Barnett is always attacking the exterior as a speed rusher and Taco is trying to push the tackle back. Taco is stronger than Barnett. If Taco can learn to combine the power move with a spin or a rip he'll become a monster.

Thats the major difference I see. And why I like Barnett a little more. Taco may or may not have a higher ceiling and he looks like a fine player but I don't think he has the repertoire in getting to the QB right now that Barnett has.

I would be dancing in the street. Not sure Davis will be there at 42.
