The rule says it's illegal for an unblocked player to hit a QB below the knee. It's questionable whether McCray was blocked to the ground. The ref probably questioned this as well, and that could be why he didn't throw the flag. Also, hits below the knee are more likely to be called when the defender hits the QB in the front of his leg.
And the previous poster is correct. Brees was picked up and planted on one play in the second half and there was no call. He didn't complain about it. Just moved on to the next play.
QBs get hit hard all the time after throws. We're just hearing about it now because one of the main storylines after the game was how the Saints pressured and popped Favre all night. We're also hearing about it because there are two weeks between the championship games and the Superbowl, and ESPN has to talk about something.

It was intentional and dirty.
That is your uninformed opinion. It can be an illegal hit and not be dirty. Sometimes hits happen in weird ways which are viewed as penalties.

Big fricking deal. Why don't the issue a statement saying they should have called holding on the Vikings off. tackle 45 times.

You know what voids this whole entire thing? The fact that the saints were called for a bullshite roughing the passer play a couple plays before that one.
They can cry about it, but the Saints got hosed right before.
