That's what I was thinking. Maybe the Saints chatted up Daniels at the combine and when LaConfora asked Daniels where he would go, Daniels said I'll probably go to the Saints. Maybe???

Agreed, as I figure that by grooming him we'll get a backup who won't require a total change in gameplan if Brees goes down for some reason.
The similarities between Brees and Daniel seem to be fairly deep, so Brees should help him make the conversion from the NCAA to the NFL that was hard for him.
