Don't really get how you can be a saints fan and really hate and deuce and say that ricky "give me weed" williams is a better player.

Ricky in his prime >>>>>>> Deuce in his prime

But overall their careers were pretty similar. A few years of brilliance among a career full of mediocrity. Both had the talent to be perennial all pros but things just didn't work out for them. RBs have a short shelf life in the NFL so you have to take advantage of almost every single season you have to have a great career. And obviously injuries will just ruin your career as a RB

Will not even try to argue deuce Horn or Manning as being THE MOST OVERRATED Now for a few truly overrated nuckleheads....steve walsh, russell erxsllaban(bad sp) and donte stallworth just to name a few with no research....I'm a lazy goat. to put some of the best saints ever on this list makes me shed goat

I'd like to go with Manning but I was a toddler during his time. So even though I know he gets unconditional love from N.O. for some reason I haven't seen yet I'm gonna stay away from him and go with Hebert. Dude was a complete jerk on the field and without Martin and Hilliard he would've been Billy Joe Hobert.

Plus I'm gonna have to agree that Ricky in his prime > Deuce in his prime. It's a shame that both backs had their own problems and that neither could have a full and successful career.

Deuce was definitely overrated, don't know if he's the all time overrated saint.

Define what we are considering overrated. Overrated by national talking heads? Saints fans? Saints Talk posters? Clear this up. I don't recall Deuce getting any "best RB" awards by anyone nationally. He is beloved by Saints fans, and there is nothing wrong with that. Archie is another one. Many sportscasters talk about how great he was. Thats fine. If you think the stats don't prove greatness, then ok. But he is also beloved. I saw that NFL Network named The Dome Patrol the #1 LB core of all time. I personally agree with this, but if you think one of them is overrated, then maybe....

I guess my point is Deuce was never talked up as great in a national spotlight...beloved, yes...not overrated.

Nothing spells overrated like carrying the entire eagles defence on your back and scoring to help your team get to it's first conf. championship

Point is that nobody puts Deuce in the best RB category, ever.... How is this overrated? If you stay within the Saints franchise, then he is not even close to overrated compared to other Saints RBs.

The overratedness came late from local fans who talked like Deuce walked on water and was the second coming of earl campbell and like Deuce never in his life pussy footed to the line of scrimmage.

Ok, then he is overrated in Saints fan's eyes....I wouldn't consider this overrated overall. I know his place, as does most fans. There are a select few that would put him with the likes of LT and Barry Sanders which is asinine. Nobody with common sense would rate him anywhere near the top.

Where do you get this notion that you have to be mentioned with the best of all time to qualify as overrated?

I agree. This would be a bad definition.

Merriam-Webster defines overrated as:
quote:

: to rate, value, or estimate too highly <overrates his importance to the team>

Based on this I still wouldn't call Deuce overrated. Maybe in the eyes of some Saint's fans but not in the greater scheme of things. Deuce basically gets no props from media or fans outside of N.O. IMO he's rated right where he should be. He's probably the best RB the Saint's have ever had but that's no great accomplishment based on the backs they've had throught the years.
