This cemented it for me - everything y’all are saying about Los Angeles (the shittiest of shitholes) being such a “lucrative” market is true.

Thinking about “markets” and financial interests destroy the things that make life worth living: in this case it’s the joy of watching the world’s greatest athletes compete in a beautifully brutal sport.

Bill Hicks said it best - if you’re in marketing, kill yourself.

I think he even repeated it, just for good measure.

But if not for money, there would be no league.

Los Angeles. I should clarify.

Louisiana is a great place full of original food/music/culture.

Los Angeles is the ultimate fake pretentious city and should be nuked.

ETA: Also Gump, even Bama > LosA

It is PROFESSIONAL sports. Obviously the entire existence of the league is based on making as much money as possible. This should have been obvious to you long before last night.

The new stadium and development of the surrounding area in Los Angeles is a 5 BILLION DOLLAR project!!! You will never convince me that the league wasn't protecting their investment yesterday!

And it will become a shite hole and lucky to fill the stadium.

They give zero fricks. When something becomes so big money wise it becomes corrupt as the money is then needed to feed the machine.

The big markets are needed.

it isn't money's fault. it's GREED. Goodall wants to keep his 30 million a year job and he represents the owners, not the league.

we all need money and most of us work hard to make more to provide for our needs. some of us, ironically usually the wealthiest, cheat their arse off because they always want more and can't be satisfied.

You’re right - sure they need to make money but it’s sinful to put making AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE over the integrity of the game.

We’ll probably never know for sure whether or not it was intentional, but to show a clear bias for LA and Boston over Nola and K.C...

If it came out officials were involved in point shaving (affecting the outcomes of betting) what happens? Is that a criminal offense? Does someone go to jail? I only ask because it’s obvious they didn’t miss the call, they chose not to call it. So there has to be a reason for choosing not to call it. Conspiracies are a lot less likely than betting on a game or getting paid to affect the outcome of a game for gambling purposes. My mind goes that route rather than some elaborate NFL organized conspiracy to generate TV ratings.
