Last time I remember a real receiving clinic on his behalf was in dallas in 06...help me out here and give me some examples as to why he is one of the better catching fullbacks.

Mike Karney = Top 5 overrated Saints player

5 td's in 4 plus years... 2 of which came in one game where he was the forgotten man. He's about as one dimensional of a fullback as there is in the NFL.

He is not necessarily used in our offense to score points, or even run the ball. All he does is block, and occasionay slip into the flat as a check down, and when his number is called that sucker catches the ball, he scores two tds sunday if he is in the game

Mike Karney the cowgirl killer
btw he scored three tds in dallas

Reaffirmed what I said in my post...but your right we don't use him in passing downs. Good blocker but I do not understand how we can say how fantastic his catching skills are. He doesn't have passes thrown to him. And by the by he caught two td's since 06 and has 284 recv yards with 96 in 06'

karney is a blocker....but in long run we don't really use too many i formations so a pass catching fullback is probalby more suited for this offense...new guy is a bit faster...more like an h back....to be determined if he can block...if he can, as muhc as you like karney, other guy is a better fit for payton...

i've watched the game twice since sinday on DVR. mike karney definitely scores the TD on that 4th down play.

i dont think it would have to karney. he has the experience to know a hit like that is coming. it could happen to anybody or anybody could have scored. two ways to look at it.

The rookie is a a talented player and it could give us an option on 3 and 4 to bring him in and let put him into the flats. Altough we don't use many straght I froms, we do use alot of off set I's. Something else that was not metioned in this thread was pass blocking, when Karney is called apon to pick up a Blitz, you never see him miss it, even if it is not alot it is still an intangable that he brings.
