Ingram's sample size is way too small to judge him as a 3rd year player going into this season.

Actually his career numbers of 278 carries are equivalent to one full season at 17 carries a game.
He averages 3.9 yards per carry.
That's 1076 yards with 10 touchdowns.

If he would do that in one season then it would be a totally different story. But since the coaching staff doesn't allow him to, he is labeled an awful player? That's absurd.

yeah, that was pretty awful. I could care less about the Alabama/LSU rivalry.

Ingram hasn't been truly healthy the majority of the time he's been with the Saints either. So maybe that would explain why he hasn't really got going yet. But at what point do you get tired of taking sympathy points for a player who can't stay healthy?

this will be a very telling season for him.

He has to produce this season or his days here are over. He improved last season down the stretch, hoping that continues. If the Saints running game is rolling, no one is stopping the offense.

There is nothing in Mr. Ingram's Saints resume to back this up.
"Good backs" in the NFL are guys who get multiple 100 yard games a season. Ingram hasn't had a single 100 yard game as a Saint...not one.

I said it before and I'll say it again: If Ingram didn't cause $2.9 in dead money this season, he would be on the trading block.

PT was the only Saint to rush for over 100 yards in a game last year.

he had 9 carries for 110 yards @ Carolina the first time the Saints played them.

I don't care who gets over 100 yards or not but then there is this also...

Chris Ivory was the only back to have over 100 yards in a game in 2011. He did that in the regular season finale vs. the Panthers. And this was a year when the Saints had a Top 10 rushing attack.

If you're looking for a back to have multiple 100 yard games in a year in this offense, I don't know what to tell you.

I really don't think so. Ingram was Payton's pick and he only had him for his rookie year. If Payton was here last year you might have a case. I still think Ole Sean has plans for him. He admitted to not taking the reins off of him is rookie year before the whole bounty fiasco.

You know what?

I'm saying 1200 yards for Ingram next year.

He's been in a four back rotation for two years...

For the longest time every time he came in it would only be for a play or two and he'd always just run the same play, that's horrible play calling, if all of us can tell you what the play is gonna be before it happens, professional DCs will eat it up. When he stayed in for longer periods of time and we opened up the playbook for him he did a lot better. We can't do the same crap we've been doing where we keep switching out RBs every few plays, do it every drive.

A lot of Saints fans are LSU fans, and yes whether they'll admit it or not, him going to Bama is a reason why they don't like him. He could go for 12 TDs and 850 yards and some of them would probably still hate him. If we don't use a better RB rotation this year, I HOPE we send him to a team that will use him right, he deserves better.

I'm on board, but not for 1200. He won't get enough carries to do it unless PT gets hurt, or Mark starts averaging 5 a pop, but I see him in the 4.2-4.4 YPC range for this upcoming season.

Ingram has been terrible. It was nice to see him start to run like a man at the ladder end of last season but he has no vision whatsoever.

Hopefully he turns it around for the sake of most Saints fans sanity.

Get your dumbass out of here. Are you really stating that Sean Payton and Pete Carmichael Jr are horrible play callers? Seriously, STFU your ignorance is out of control.

Get real. Are you really trying to say Ingram is a "good back"? That's a joke.
If you are, your appreciation of the game is much different than mine.

To be fair, a lot of the play-calling with Ingram was really bad. Ingram in - Run up the middle

Then the started to switch it up by having Ingram come in on passing plays along with opening the playbook more for him.

the Saints don't run enough for a back to produce those kind of numbers.

and right now, we are 4 deep at RB.

No, they're horrible play callers in the running game with someone they used a first round pick on. Are you really stating that bringing in a back for just a play or two to ALWAYS run up the middle wasn't horrible play calling? When EVERYONE at home knows where the play is going before they break the huddle, it's a bad thing. Switching out backs every play just to mix it up is so so.

I love CSP, but he's not perfect, no coach is.
