but none with his upside.
Aaron Hernandez, while not as big, is just as athletic, stronger and has proven track record.
same can almost be said of Dennis Pitta.

he doesnt need to be a factor next year so i love the pick.
exactly the reason i dont like it.
we have positions on defense where a player could be factor the day he steps on the field

seems too early to pick up a basketball player.

idk, I wanted Griffen when he was there at 64 and when he was still there at 95 I thought that was too good of a football player to pass up

Something is obviously wrong with griffin.
Our te we drafted is gonna be good. 6-6 260 runs a 4.56.
He played basketball.
Decided to play football one year and gets drafted.
Sounds like Tony Gonzalez and antonio gates.

Dennis Pitta was the more complete TE and rated higher
BS. and it depends on who's rating.. Graham blows Pitta out the water in projection to the NFL. You don't just draft on stats. You draft on projection.

he is more athletic than hernandez and pitta. but yes less of a track record.
now i do wish a need was addresed with one of the other picks but i like this one looking at it in a vacuum.

okay what about antonio gates? this dude will be AWESOME
i promise you.. hes a great kid... with great leaping ability... soft hands and the ability to get any ball he wants..
will be a great target for drew...

the love for hernandez is ridiculous.. yeah he's a nice pass catching tight end.. but he is virtually worthless in the blocking game. people love him cuz he played at UF and you saw a lot of him.
graham is a freak with much better size and he can block.. especially with his basketball background. he's even a tad faster.. think of brees' style.. he can get the ball to where only his guy can make a play and utilize these freakish talents.

I wanted Graham I won't lie.
And if we had addressed needs with the first 2 picks I would have been ok with him in the 3rd.
But we didn't do that.
I mean individually I'm kind of ok with each pick but as a draft as a whole this is to much

i've never seen Graham play but I'd almost bet that his coordination and feel for the game of football isnt anywhere near what Gates'
and just something else to think about, most of the 6'5" and taller TE's that scouts fall in love with havent amounted to jack shite

3/28/10: Looked great in the positional drills at his Pro Day. He could be taken in Round 2.
2/28/10: Jimmy Graham didn't disappoint in the 40 (4.56) and definitely looked like a natural tight end in the drills. Some team will take a chance on him in Rounds 3-4

no doubting his upside
just saying though, wasnt a need especially considering he isnt ready to play.

he'll be fine. not only does he have the measurables.. the position looks natural with him. i think he can contribute this season! remember that tight end we had that caught his first td this season? i can't even think of his name lol..
2/26/10: Aaron Hernandez weighed in at 6-2, 245, but had an arm length of just 32 1/4 inches. Unlike Jermaine Gresham and Rob Gronkowski, Hernandez is not much of a blocker, and that arm length severely compromises his ability to become successful in that department.
Hernandez doesn't have near the vertical of Graham either. To me Hernandez just ran nice routes against college competition and was able to have nice receiving stats being pretty open.. not impressed.

Hernandez ran like a 4.56 at FL pro day too and did 30 reps on the bench
he caught the ball, and ran the ball at FL. He was basically their Dallas Clark
based on his measurables??
they said the same thing about guys like Jerramy Stevens and Marcedes Lewis and guys like that.
not saying he wont or cannot be good. I just dont think our offense needs a project when our D needs some help at LB and DL
